King
The International Cricket Council's CEOs committee, at its two-day meeting in London, has okayed a recommendation by its Cricket Committee to allow a free-hit in One-day Internationals following a no-ball. More... Link to comment
Chandan
This is going to make the situation worse for the bowlers! Link to comment
beetle
I think BCCI is planning to oppose the recommendations.I blame Gavaskar for turning cricket into a circus.... Link to comment
The Outsider
This is ridiculous. What next, a public spanking of the bowler after a wide. As it is bowling has gone completely down the drain lately, this will encourage more mediocre line and length stuff rather than wicket taking efforts. Link to comment
ludhianvi
That is quite bad. This puts the game even more in favour of batsmen if it wasnt already Link to comment
Holysmoke
why dont they ban bowling at speeds greater than 85 mph too? Link to comment
Ram
I wonder if most of these free-hits will end up as tame mis-hits down to long-on or mid-wicket. But it will definitely add some excitement to the game though. So no balls are going to hurt the teams much much more now. If a team loses by 10-12 runs , I am sure there will be graphic comparing the runs given off free hits. Link to comment
Bumper
Ridiculous! The idea seems to be motivated to induce spectator interest (esp after a no ball or a wide is bowled), but is a better fit for a 20/20 or a 5/5 (Gambit ™), not so much for a regular ODI. Malcolm Sami should be sitting somewhere wondering, how much more unfair can the game get for him. The lad already bowls 6 free hits & they want more ? Fark all the batsmen! Link to comment
yoda
asking on behalf of mohmd. sami: what happens if the free-hit ball is a wide? is the next one also a free hit? and what if it is a no ball? you get two successive free hits? Link to comment

Chandan
Dennis Lillee was almost hilarious in his response to this change: "perhaps now they ban yorkers and outswingers as well"!!!! Link to comment
