What's ailing Gauti in test matches?

Hasn't hit a 100 since hitting one vs BD early last year. Since start of 2010, 15 tests, 846 runs@32. Has been gettig starts but then throwing it away. One of the biggest reasons why our batting is struggling in tests. His batting form in ODIs though has got betted during the same perios (28 matches, 1276 runs@51) while his test batting has cooled off after the highs of 2008 and 2009. Can he turn it around during this series?

I think he will turn it around this series.Lets not forget he didnt score a 100 but played 2 superb innings at Cape Town.Cmon Gauti get back to your high scoring best in test cricket :nice:
He hasn't struggled for runs, looks set and then suddenly gets out. One big score would get him back to his best again. Hopefully that big score comes at Eden.

He is getting out due to some lapse in concentration more than anything else. Playing away from the body, sometimes playing way too hard, walking down the pitch and missing the line, run out etc. etc., he is finding new ways of getting out it seems. He is one of those players who barely struggles to score runs no matter what the pitch is like. We desperately need him in great form for the Aussie tour as he was the man who played brilliantly on those bouncy pitches where others struggled.

He needs to change his game from ODI's to tests. He seems to playing across, late cuts quite early in tests which is his downfall. He needs to try those when he is well in. Too much ODI cricket has done some damage to technique and thinking of the batsmen as to how to pace the innings. Both innings batsmen were trying to go over 5 rpo, which is really not needed in a test match.

Good thing is his old errors are not coming back. One was being an LBW victim with the right foot falling over while playing across and being a poor leaver. This was Gauti when he first came into international cricket. He has looked good but I think he is not concentrating well and is finding ways to get himself out. A big score is around the corner.
