Gautam Gambhir seems to be a shadow of his previous self..

Gauti should not lose his concentration on 30-40's ,as a no.3 batsman he should be making 100's .One of our top 4 has to make 100 in each of our matches to succeed in this tournament. Gauti shouldnt waste his starts and score big afterall his batting is his only utility in the side ,he doesnt ball and is a OK fielder. So Gauti we want 100's from you :nice:

Question for anyone who would like to share their opinion. Recently I've heard lots of commentary, theories etc "India should play five specialist bowlers" "Yuvraj should be dropped for Raina" "Yusaf is being wasted play Raina instead" etc. I've never heard anyone talk about dropping Ghambhir for either a fifth specalist bowler or to bring on Raina. For the last year I have not been impressed with Ghambhir at all. His technique is great but as a #3 I'd expect much more from him. I know a major reason they play him is cause he is a lefty but so is Raina as well. Id suggest moving Kholi to #3 since he is India's most reliable anchor and slotting Raina who can part time bowl and is a much better fielder at 6. All Ghambhir really brings to India is batting and that being said his strike rate is usually mediocre when it really matters.
Completely and absolutely disagree with everything you've said. In the last 1 year Gambhir has played 12 matches and in those matches he has made over 600 @ 63..............and you say his strike rate is mediocre -his strike rate in that period has been "just" 96.04 :hysterical::hysterical: He has been the most consistent ODI batsman in the country for 3-4 years and people still have the audacity to say that he should be dropped :wall: :wall:

No one talks about dropping Dhoni cause we need someone to keep the wicket. Zaheer cause we need someone to take wickets and Sachin cause apparently winning the world cup is primarily for him! Gambhir has plenty of replacement options most notably Kholi who is a much much steadier anchor than he is. I guess being in form is subjective. Kholi is in the form of his life and is the best batsman in the world chasing these days. Gambhir has one thing going for him - he is a lefty with Yuvraj being the other lefty. I would love to see Kholi in at 3 and Raina in at 6. Ghambhir just is not bringing anything exciting to the team and is basically on the team for expectation and not current performance.
That line confirmed beyond doubt that OP is a paki troll. :cantstop:

Guys, I'm not bashing the team I would LOVE to see them do well. All I'm saying is I have not been impressed with Gambhir. Kohli has been super reliable and should have that #3 slot. I say this based on his past preformance not based on "expectation" which I believe Gambhir has holding him in that spot. He is there cause he is a lefty and is suppose to be good at spin. He had a great tourny against powerhouse New Zealand...which really doesnt prove much. And the fact that he is a good TEST player is irrelevant for ODIs. We might as well have Sree as a front line bolwer since he did so good in Test matches against South Africa. So far Sachin, Sehwag, Kohli all have Hundreds. Yuvraj was mom against Ireland. I expect more from Gambhir if he is going to stay in the squad and 50 runs as a #3 isnt doing it for me. If he doesnt contribute against one of the remaining 3 teams at least a century Kohli should get the #3 slot and Raina in at 6. Raina at 6 will give better bowling and fielding options and is still the highest run getter in IPL. With a reliable anchor like Kohli it might not even go past #5 and Dhoni though so its just something to consider. Comments?
