Lord
who knows that throw would've hit his back side and allowed him to complete an easy single :--D I blame Aaron he was playing shots wen all he needed was single Link to comment
Ranjha
:hysterical::hysterical: Ashwin probably first made sure india did not lose a wicket and tried to play ball on the ground, You can still look for a single while playing ball on the ground. defending was a bizarre move. Link to comment
The Dark Horse
Question for icfers.......the second last ball....was it a smart move? or brain dead? You have to take a bit of gamble to win the test match when you are so close..me thinks.....chance of getting out 2 in 2 was less than getting a single off that ball rather than defending. manju saying it was a smart move lol You're alive? Trichromatic
lol, how can you defend that by saying that there was no 2. Anything could have happened. Keeper might have fumbled. Ashwin made mistake there. Link to comment
The Dark Horse
Second last ball was a wise decision, last ball decision was a blunder Link to comment
devla
Did we miss Harbhajan today? :idunno: sure, with him in the side, would you have given up Ashwins 4 or Ojhas 6? Ashwin saved the game today. Forget the last ball. If you want to blame someone, look for a few names in the top order. plenty there. Link to comment

CG
You can still look for a single while playing ball on the ground. defending was a bizarre move. he was trying to turn the ball to legside ,do not go by mr lal commentary that he was defending also the ball was 140+ from edwards. kubrickian
lol, how can you defend that by saying that there was no 2. Anything could have happened. Keeper might have fumbled. Ashwin made mistake there. But they didnt. No point in thinking about hypothetical scenarios. The ball was already on the way back to the keeper before he could even get back to the other end. There was only 1 there because he hit the ball very hard. A batsman knows how many runs are available when he hits the ball. Link to comment

devla
I blame Aaron he was playing shots wen all he needed was single Its a pity that a number 10 on debut is expected to thread a gap in the last over in a team that has 4 batsmen with 40000 runs between them. Link to comment
ganeshran
lol, how can you defend that by saying that there was no 2. Anything could have happened. Keeper might have fumbled. Ashwin made mistake there. He thought the throw would be at the bowlers end. He kept the bat grounded till Aaron reached this end and then turned around. But throw was at the right end Link to comment

But throw was at the right end yup.. it was not a thoughtless strategy. But that was not the right strategy. Right strategy would be to run blind. Link to comment

urbestfriend
Strategy of defending last but one ball was wrong..He should've gone for his shots instead of defending...This is his third match, hence too much responsibility for him, so I'd give him the benifit of doubt. Link to comment
