Indian Team goes crazy!

Recommended Posts

Great to see :wtg: JOHANNESBURG, Dec 18: You would be forgiven for thinking it was a Formula One podium ceremony with race drivers spraying champagne. The Indian team, on a high after recording their first Test win on South African soil, enjoyed the special moment to the hilt with players spraying beer and juice on one another. Harbhajan Singh, VRV, MS Dhoni and Irfan Pathan raced away from the line of champagne fire. The others, for once, were not bothered: they were just having the time of their lives. The champagne vanished in a flash; and the players were drenched to the core. But they were not through yet. Crates of beer now arrived equally mysteriously. Greg Chappell came out to say hello and accept TOI 's congratulations. He looked like a wet crow caught in a storm; a happy wet crow, that is. "I need to teach these guys to drink beer. Not to spill it," he remarked. God alone knows what all he will have to teach his team. He shook his head disapprovingly as the players were still trying to catch each other for a beer bath. "How can they waste so much beer," he said, and ran away, as the army returned to soak him. In the meantime, S Sreesanth walked around in a dazed manner. He clearly didn't know what was happening round him as he stared into the unknown with glazed eyes. "It still feels like a dream. I don't believe it," he murmured to TOI . He then signed autographs and refused to budge when the team's security chief wanted to take him back to safety; but nobody was going to be safe tonight. As soon as Sreesanth came into sight, he was attacked by his mates. Even as he just stood there stunned, Munaf Patel, Dinesh Karthik and Ian Frazer emptied bottles on him. The beer was over by now; so the players had moved on to all kinds and colours of juices. Red liquid cascaded off his hair and dripped down his face when he finally came back to ground. In the balcony, Sourav Ganguly, looking wet too, was quietly having a bite. In the far corner, chairman of selectors, Dilip Vengsarkar, was trying to dry himself. "Superb win. What a performance," he said. Just when things seemed to be cooling down, Sachin Tendulkar got into the action. He quietly sneaked on to Ganguly and poured down two bottles of juice into his shirt. He then squirted another in Vengsarkar's direction. The madness began all over again. Suddenly, everybody rushed in to get some more ammunition. Karthik then pointed out towards VRV and Harbhajan, complaining that they were looking bone dry. Tendulkar suddenly turned stern. In his cleanest Punjabi, he ordered VRV to come near him. Immediately. As the tall, shy man trudged towards him, Sehwag and Zaheer Khan cornered him. By now Pathan was also drenched. Harbhajan and Dhoni realised they couldn't escape anymore; so they turned themselves in. Dhoni, in fact, walked slowly back towards the dressing room. As he neared it, he picked up two bottles and emptied them over his head. "That will not do," said Sehwag. "You will have to let us do it," he added. Everybody had a great time. A great win and a great celebration. " Bahut mazaa aaya ," said Sehwag.

Re: Indian Team goes crazy!

Ravi they deserve this as long as they get back to nets from tomorrow on..
Fair enough :wtg: Knowing our boys well I don't want them to start to relax and at the back of their mind think "This is it we have created history, rest of tests wins follow". I still want them to work on their game.

knowing RD and other seniors, they will be in some some of the toughest practice in next few days :hail: but it was good to see the OTT celebrations, just shows how much it meant to the guys after the odi and our history so far in SA :wtg:

Well this should answer the other post regarding ganguly not being part of the team.

Re: Indian Team goes crazy! jeff.... he was having something quietly in a corner and was drentched by sachin... when the whole team was on the ground with beer cans in hands running after each other...ganguly was having some snacks.. may be he wanted to be alone..just to keep the fire in his belly to remain ignited...but as a team memner he should be involved in team things.. even VVS was seen running here and there evading beer bath...may be ganguly has created a shell around himself which juniors are reluctent to cross... but still....i would have enjoyed watching ganguly running after dravid or kumble with beer can in his hand..

Re: Indian Team goes crazy! IMO, this is over the top.. yes they deserve to have some fun.. but this is just ONE test that we won.. it was a shame that we didnt win ONE test in SA in past.... but this win should be like a normal thing.. afterall we are nation of billion and only sport that has been widely followed.. this kinda celebration should be celebrated after winning series in Aussie land or after WC...
