gator
i had mentioned about his screwed up overseas performance a week back and everyone was climbing alll over me.... he proved me right once again, not tht i am happy abt it... a 4th pitch with a lil variable bounce and sun shining and pressure of 280 runs behind... he couldnt buy a top order wicket for million dollars..... even Sarandeep singh would have got a wicket.... bottom line is, Kumble cannot perform overseas and nowadays he doesnt even tie up one end as he used to, cos he is very desperate to claim wickets overseas and thts not how kumble operates.... he cannot perform, when he is desperate for wickets..... I agree with you gator. Kumble is cannot run through sides a la Javelin boy or Warne outside the subcon. His 5fers are usually tireless efforts conceding about 120 runs or so. One of the few blemishes in his stellar career. Link to comment
Sanjeev
To be fair to him, it wasn't really a spinner's wicket today. Link to comment
Predator_05
To be fair to him' date=' it wasn't really a spinner's wicket today.[/quote'] Exactly. ...and Kumble still came out of this match with 6 wickets. Yeah, i'll take that. Link to comment
King
Why should in the very first place Anil be compared to Murali or Warnie? As if we have other 10 that are the best in the world in their department. It's quite silly to compare Anil to Warnie and Murali in the first place. As for his bowling, check the number of wickets this test series so far and stop fine graining the stats to discredit him. Gambit
Sorry Ravi. I know you love the guy but his performance today was pathetic. I'm not saying we've got 10 spinners better than Kumble at home. I'm not saying he should be dropped. All I'm saying is that, he cannot run through sides outside the subcon as regularly as the other two can. And a comparison is inevitable because the three(now two though) are the leading spinners in the world. Link to comment

Gambit
LOL. gator, you were right. One simply cannot criticise Kumble here. living
I made a thread stating Kumble was no longer India's best spin option. And today's disappointing show has proved me right again. Ravi keeps posting useless stats. Kumble got the tail enders. I know someone has got to get them, but my point in the thread was that Kumble is NOT PENETRATIVE. People kept talking about Strauss's lords 1st innings wicket, however everyone knows he just gifted his wicket. Cricinfo should run stats on how many wickets that Kumble has are top order wickets - that would be very interesting. Link to comment

He wasting time taking wickets for Surrey running through county sides. I just hope he makes a strong comeback. Link to comment

yoda
Do you deny that overall he has been abysmal outside the subcon? NO, especially recently, hell NO. He was our leading bowler against WI, took a 4-fer and 2 3-fers against SA and has 2 3-fers here. All wickets count, top/middle and bottom orders. We have been burnt by tails often. Link to comment
