Donny
Murali Kartik took 6/21 to wreck Glamorgan's first innings and has 2/35 in the second. Glamorgan managed just 106 and followed on. They are 6/120 in the second innings and still 135 behind the Middlesex total of 361. Link to comment

living
Anyone know why he was dropped from the ODI team? I think he's much better than Powar. He did really well couple of years back in ODI's against SL and SA. And then suddenly was dropped  Link to comment
Donny
He now has 3/41 and two chances for a 10 wicket haul. Link to comment

THX_1138
actually murli was quite effective against the aussies too. in recall in 2004, in the VB series or whatever it was called with india, australia and new zealand, he was our most effective bowler, and had it not been for a late onslaught by michael clarke in the final, thanks to him we would have bundled out australia for less that 220... regretably they ended with 240 odd and we lost by some 10-20 odd runs. i recall those days, we were going the worse phase of the wright - ganguly formula, thanks in great parts to the lack of success of sehwag and decline of pathan, but still whenever we went up against australia, the match was closer than one between two punch drunk boxers. I thought those were the golden days! dude dont you recall that series? we managed 3 wins in 7 matches. and we only won when sehwag managed to give us a decent start. even when tendulkar fired, the rest collapsed. it was a period where yuvraj was sort of in a perdition between decent but unreliable batsman and matchwinner. i think i might be wrong about the pathan thing, but i know of a fact that following that series, which we lost and the test series just prior to that, we headed to zimbabwe for the horrible series where we lost repeatedly to new zealand and sri lanka. Chandan
Goodness! Are you getting mixed up or what? We went to Australia in 03-04 and went to Zimbabwe in second half of 2005! Link to comment
Predator_05
Karthik was an excellent ODI bowler but he could only hold down his place in the side as a specialist spinner, and he wasn't a that great a spinner to play solely as a specialist. Couldn't bat, average fielder. A bit of a wasted talent. Ganguly never used him properly (they didn't like each other at all) and his best performances were under Dravid. In any case, I'd rather have Powar. Link to comment

Predator_05
When Predz? In 2005 ODIs? He played in the next test vs SA @ Kanpur. The match in which Hall scored the slowest hundred ever. India played Pathan in the next match and he bowled brilliantly with the new ball to take 3 wickets. That was the end of Kartik. He was never going to figure in the Test side as long Harbhajan and Kumble were taking wickets, and back then, they were. He was always a regular in the ODI team during '05, but was smashed all over the place by the South Africans and then was taken to cleaners by the P@kis in that first ODI at Peshawar. Link to comment
Chandan
Hmm.. Thanks Predz. I had completely forgotten about that SA test series at home! Link to comment
