Cricket Tragic
I was watching the PoS test from 2002 last night and right at the moment when Ashish Nehra got Brian Lara, I thought of the forgettable test in the same series when Ajay Ratra made a test hundred on that road in Antigua. Is Ratra the worst Indian batsman to score a test ton? I'm sure Aggy will get a few votes but there was no doubt that he had some ability with the bat. Ratra was a just a mug. So who is the worst Indian batsman to score a test ton? Link to comment
vvvslaxman
yea.. i won't put Aggy there as he is not a proper batsman. It was a road. Sachin made first ball duck there though . He could have scored a 300 there.. but missed out big time. Link to comment
Number
Ratra is the only Indian Wicket Keeper batsman to score a hundred outside Subcontinent and first one to do it outside India. :) Link to comment
Cricketics
Reaching to the test team of a country which has a billion population, i hate to use the term worst Indian batsman to score century. Also keeping in mind he was the only Indian keeper then to score century overseas. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Poor Chetan chauhan was partner for Sunny for a while. Couldn't score even a single century. Link to comment
Clarke
I remember that test, reckon one commentator was critical of Ratra & Ravi got back to him since this guy got his first hundred in his 3rd test while the critical commy got his first one in fourth. Zak actually tried slow left arm in the nets and Ravi hyped it up as if Bedi was back. Not that it made any difference to the match result. Link to comment

The best part about that test was that Sachin and Lara scored a grand total of 4 runs amongst them while every tom dick and harry scored runs. Link to comment

The Outsider
Confining to only specialist batsmen, I would say Abbas Ali Baig, Bangar, Raina, and Mooli Vijay. Link to comment
Raghav_12
Its Harbhajan surely? Harbhajan is definitely a better bat than Kumble. Link to comment
Khalpat
Talking about specialist Batsman, Nayan Mongia is the name comes to my mind but what an inning it was: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63721.html Then Sadgopan Ramesh, he made two centuries but I never liked his batting style. Sidhoni
You can not be called worst when you have got a test century. Link to comment
MCcricket
Prabhakar, Mongia for sure, two most selfish, worst players to score a ton. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Prabhakar' date=' Mongia for sure, two most selfish, worst players to score a ton.[/quote'] But Mongia's 152 was a match winning one. Link to comment
MCcricket
But Mongia's 152 was a match winning one. We are talking about their career , attitude, game not one solitary inning, phew. Link to comment
The Outsider
If Bradmanath had fluked a few more edges at Nagpur he would have been the undisputed winner. Link to comment
