Worst Indian batsman to score a test hundred

Recommended Posts

What about Sachin 241 ' date=' 248 then ? Easily the worst innings played by him.[/quote'] 241 not a great inning.s.. but not the worst innings either.. Not a great innings because it came on an absolute patta wicket. Not the worst innings because he compiled it with some sort of discipline. 248..he was dropped very early.. but it was a very low class bowling attack. Against West Indies he made a century where he was not comfortable right through the innings. Yet he went on to make 117 i think.

Azhar's 109 at faisalabad was comical. He ran Tendulkar out when he was on 99.. then he was dropped on 99 before he got to 100.
That innings made Azhar - he would not have played the test if Raman Lamba had not got injured just before the match. For the next series he became, "Miyaan kaptaan banoge" and played some of the best innings of his career in the NZ and England tours. "Taqdeer" as Azhar would say.

Yeah, but that was a tough pitch for stroke play - low with a lot of lateral movement. Laxman made a couple of top notch half centuries in the match. It was a top quality test match till Chanderpaul handed it to India by his selfish innings in the chase batting with the tail.

Laxman :hatsoff: man of the match. Great innings. Sachin got two reprieves.. once Asoka de silva negated a caught behind and a plumb lbw was not given by Harper.

Yes. And he equalled bradman's tally of 29 centuries then. Sachin got a 0 in the second innings and then since the next test onwards, was haunted by Pedro Collins.

Prabhakar' date=' Mongia for sure, two most selfish, worst players to score a ton.[/quote'] Prabhakar can not be worst indian batsmen to score a century. He scored a century on green pitch of Mohali against West Indian pace attack where no other indian batsmen cross 40. Unfortunately he got his nose broken on a bouncer in second innings of the match and did not get a chance to add more runs. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63662.html

prabhakar was and is the worst indian critcketer in terms of attitude' date=' he is phenominally selfish.[/quote'] Mongia was worse. I remember couple of matches where he ran out SRT & Azhar when he could have sacrificed himself for the team. Needless to say India went on to lose both the games. Prabhakar gets the benefit of doubt of only screwing up once against WI where he gave up the chase to score his 100 and guess who his partner in crime at the other end was - Mongia :giggle:
