Ultimate_Game
laxman is going nowhere. u arent gonna see any big changes. this will be the XI: sehwag, gambhir, laxman, tendulkar, kohli, pujara, dhoni, ashwin, zaheer, ojha, umesh. Unfortunately that's the sad truth Link to comment
cowboysfan
Laxman should not be in the series,i really dont see the point of him playing this series against the kiwi when that spot could be taken up by a youngster who could really use it. Link to comment

BeautifulGame
I think we shouldnt commit the same mistake as we did previously did confusing test and ODI performances (Yuvi Rania Sehwag Kaif etc). Even though i am not a big fan of Rohit he deserves a chance in tests against NZL regardless of ODI form. Link to comment

1983-2011
Vettori to miss India series New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori, who is suffering from a groin injury, is likely to miss the two-match Test series against India, starting on August 23. Vettori was forced out of the second Test against the West Indies at Jamaica last week and remains a doubtful starter for the series against India, as he might not be able to recover in time. ŪtÃÔ not looking likely at this stage. There is a 90 per cent chance Dan wonÃÕ be there, New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor said. He said that they were weighing their options and looking forward at who will be able to fill the big shoes of Vettori. ŸeÃ×e got to look forward to seeing how the next spinner gets on over there, he was quoted as saying. VettoriÃÔ absence may help Indian-origin Tarun Nethula to win his Test cap. The 29-year-old leg-spinner, born in Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), has played five ODIs for New Zealand and was part of the Test squad that travelled to the West Indies. New Zealand, meanwhile, will be travelling to India with new coach Mike Hesson as John WrightÃÔ tenure ended with the conclusion of the West Indies tour. Ÿright has been a good servant for New Zealand cricket, and itÃÔ a bit disappointing to send him off on that note. Ÿe might not have put it into performances, but IÃÎ sure, over the next little while, that a lot of what John has done for the team will come through, Taylor said. http://www.thehindu.com/sport/cricket/article3735325.ece Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
Blessing in disguise for kiwis. He wouldn't have taken any wkts against India anyways and at least now kiwis will be able to play another pacer who will be more likely to perform against India. Indian batsmen do have a knack of making heroes out of average pacers. E.g., Paul Jarvis. Link to comment
Clarke
He was a very good bowler to begin with, the shoulder injury & captaincy wore him down later. Link to comment
Feed
NZ Test Squad for India series : Injured Vettori out of India tour, Patel recalled Daniel Vettori has been ruled out of New Zealand's Test tour of India due to a groin injury he suffered in the West Indies, while the batsman Dean Brownlie has been dropped after a disappointing Caribbean tour More... Injured Vettori out of India tour, Patel recalled ESPNcricinfo staff August 7, 2012 Daniel Vettori has been ruled out of New Zealand's Test tour of India due to a groin injury he suffered in the West Indies, while the batsman Dean Brownlie has been dropped after a disappointing Caribbean tour. The offspinner Jeetan Patel has earned a recall as a result of his outstanding county form for Warwickshire, and the allrounder James Franklin has also been named in a 15-man squad. They are the only two changes from the group that lost 2-0 to West Indies over the past two weeks, with the legspinner Tarun Nethula again included despite being overlooked for an all-pace attack in Jamaica when Vettori was injured. New Zealand could play two spinners in the Indian conditions but if not, Nethula will face stiff competition for a spot from Patel, who has 38 first-class wickets at 23.65 in the County Championship this year. "The tour of India will be a great challenge and experience for this squad," the national selection manager Kim Littlejohn said. "Unfortunately Daniel Vettori won't recover in time for the Test series but his injury has created and opportunity for Jeetan Patel to come back into the side. Jeetan has been in great from for Warwickshire and deserves his opportunity. "James Franklin has been brought into the squad to bolster the batting. He brings a lot of experience and knowledge of playing in Indian conditions which will be invaluable. Dean Brownlie misses out on selection. We continue to see him as player of the future but at this stage we feel he needs to works on parts of his game. There's no doubt he will work hard to regain selection." The Indian trip consists of two Tests, beginning in Hyderabad on August 23, and will present an enormous challenge for New Zealand following their miserable Caribbean tour. They will especially require more from their batsmen; Kane Williamson's 102 in Wellington in March is the only century made by a New Zealander in their past five Tests. Squad Martin Guptill, Daniel Flynn, Brendon McCullum, Ross Taylor (capt), Kane Williamson, BJ Watling, James Franklin, Kruger van Wyk, Doug Bracewell, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult, Tarun Nethula, Jeetan Patel, Chris Martin. b555
but still he is one of the most economical bowlers you have ever seen and i donno why, always liked his looks .. first cricket i saw who plays with his spectacles on Link to comment
Pagalpanti
He has milked Indian bowlers for a lot of runs, so a blow for NZ in that regard. Link to comment
Cricket Tragic
His bowling has become a complete joke. He averages close to 50 with the ball over the past 2 years. His stats over the last 3-5 years aren't great either (avg above 40). He needs to move up the batting order if he wants to play on merit. Link to comment
zaqw222222
Hope we dont produce flat pitches for this series, New Zealand's last two series in india has produced 4 high scoring draws and only one victory for India. Link to comment

Sir john
Test recalls for Patel, Franklin New Zealand's quest to find the right balance to their Test side has resulted in recalls for off-spinner Jeetan Patel and all-rounder James Franklin in a 15-man squad to tour India this month. While Wellington duo Patel and Franklin are back in the fold, batsman Dean Brownlie's fall from grace following a bright start to his Test career has led to his omission. Daniel Vettori's groin injury has also ruled him out of the two-Test series, starting on August 23 in Hyderabad. Patel, whose last Test was against Zimbabwe last November, is back in the fold to push uncapped leg-spinner Tarun Nethula hard for a spot in Vettori's absence. Franklin has not featured at Test level since January 2011 but has been recalled with a view to adding a weight of runs to an under-performing batting line-up. "The tour of India will be a great challenge and experience for this squad," national selection manager Kim Littlejohn said. "Unfortunately, Daniel Vettori won't recover in time for the Test series but his injury has created an opportunity for Jeetan Patel to come back into the side. Jeetan has been in great from for Warwickshire and deserves his opportunity. "James Franklin has been brought into the squad to bolster the batting. He brings a lot of experience and knowledge of playing in Indian conditions which will be invaluable. "Dean Brownlie misses out on selection. We continue to see him as player of the future but at this stage we feel he needs to works on parts of his game. There's no doubt he will work hard to regain selection." Whether or not Patel and Franklin are rushed straight into the Test XI is dependent on past form, given there are no warm-up matches for the second straight tour. While Patel has been in meaningful four-day match practice, Franklin has existed on a diet of Twenty20 matches as Essex's overseas player. His last first-class match was for Wellington in late March. New Zealand squad: Ross Taylor (capt), Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Daniel Flynn, James Franklin, Martin Guptill, Chris Martin, Brendon McCullum, Tarun Nethula, Jeetan Patel, Tim Southee, Kruger van Wyk, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson.
