nballa
these are pretty much non athletic, boring, not popular and just about nobody cares about them 1) archery 2) shooting/rifle events 3) that poking with the stick thing one could make a case for cricket to be included, at least the 20 over format over all these snoozefests
jairamesh
fecking Equestrian! Snobbery and elitism at it's best. IOC president Jacque Rogge on Formula 1 (motor sport): "Frankly speaking, the concept we are having is the games are about the competition for the athletes not for equipment," Rogge said. "Therefore, while having a lot of respect, they will not be included into the Olympic program."

jairamesh
tbh any sports with their own sacred "World Championships/Cups" should not be in the Olympics unless it involves youngsters or amateurs.
jairamesh
why is squash not in there? I was surprised too, to find no squash, surely it's a sport which epitomizes a typical Olympic sport.
maniac
I wanted to check how one-sided basketball would be with the Dream team taking part in it every 4 years ..but surprising to see that U.S has not not won gold on 3 different occassions.....don't count 80 olympics because U.S had boycotted it lost to Argentina in 2004(This was probably the most shocking) and U.S.S.R in 1972 and 1988 but apart from that pretty much nailed it every other time
jairamesh
All sports which are heavily dependent on capital and elitism should be removed: Equestrian, Sailing, Shooting, Fencing, and Golf (which will make it's appearance at next Olympics)
Cricketics
The more the sports in one EVENT like OLYMPICS, the better the competition is. The standard of every sports improves when they hear they have to go to a country to represent their country in front of the whole world. Why delete events. JUST KEEP ADDING. I would love to see the following added: Cricket, Squash, Rugby, Chess, Sumo, Kabaddi. Also going by wiki, a sport for Olympics will only be considered: In order for a sport or discipline to be considered for inclusion in the list of Summer Olympics sports, it must be widely practiced in at least 75 countries, spread over four continents. :hmmm: Equestrian?, Synchronized swimming? Handball? Sailing?
panther
Hope they add BJJ or JJ for the 2016 Olympics if judo can make it than so should BJJ and JJ. Also kick boxing or muay thai.
Andrew Peter
I think the T20 wc should be scrapped and rather include the format at the olympics . Would make up for great viewing as well as putting more price on the T20 Tournament .

nballa
curling Too bad we don't have darts as an olympic discipline... We could have had at least one gold medal in that the only way darts can get competitive is if the participants are blindfolded and the board is placed on top of a person's head, then something is definitely at stake

Will all the nations share the gold medal or will they all compete as different countries? that's the beauty, let them compete individually: Trinidad, Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados Though England would have to do the opposite to fit in with GB, like their football team.
