Dinesh Karthik awarded contract Mumbai: Playing five Test matches in the BCCI’s contractual period (October 2006 to September 2007) starting from the Newlands Test against South Africa, Dinesh Karthik has been directly placed in the Grade ‘C’ of the players’ contract. After the Newlands Test, Karthik has figured in two Tests against Bangladesh and three against England. The actual retainership for a Grade ‘C’ player is Rs. 20 lakhs, but Karthick will receive a proportionate sum that would be calculated from the time he played the fifth Test till September 2007. novpj
what doesnt make sense is Karthick and Zaheer receiving Grade C and Sehwag, Harbhajan, Pthan and Agarkar get Grade B. May be there should be the grades should be decided later based on a one year history of perfromance and forced grading of bowlers and batsmen on a normal curve. But you know that wont happen becoz Dravid and SRTs of the world wont get Grade A's. Link to comment

coverpoint
Well they need to reevaluate the grades sooner. Sehwag has been less than grade A for a while now. Link to comment

Obviously that is based on the players' performance from Aug 2005-Aug 2006. Now tell me what extraordinary thing Karthik and Zaheer did from Aug 2005-2006 to be selected above Grade C?
