ganeshran
12 mil new jobs :yay: This snake oil seller is writing checks the economy can't cash. 12 million new jobs would require massive massive investment in the economy, wonder where the money for that is going to come from. The five steps in the video that he speaks off are essentially populist chest thumping statements that realistically cannot be achieved. ViruRulez
Obama .. Romney is a bigger tool than Obama .. choices are limited .. Gary Johnson is also trying hard though I suppose he is not receiving any media coverage .. anyways it is difficult for anyone in US to run independent or third party and gain significant ratio of votes... It is more of a two way race since the time of Ross Perot who had won nearly 20% vote being an independent. Interestingly, if Perot had won than year and had not made so many U-turns then perhaps the US election would have been a lot more open with more candidates including independents as well as third parties and other options. Clarke
All you socialists are so keen on punishing the most talented & hardworking individuals in the greatest country on earth. They work so hard to create jobs, yet are punished day & night by this administration. They have already spoken of the evils of communist policies, yet no one here listens  Koch Industries, the Wichita, Kan.-based company run by the billionaire Koch brothers, sent a voter information packet to 45,000 employees of its Georgia Pacific subsidiary earlier this month. In it was a letter, dated Oct. 1, from Koch Industries president Dave Robertson implicitly warning that "many of our more than 50,000 U.S. employees and contractors may suffer the consequences" of voting for President Obama and other Democrats in the 2012 elections, a list of conservative candidates the company's political action committee endorses and a pair of editorials: one, by David Koch, supporting Mitt Romney, and the other, by Charles Koch, condemning Obama. "While we are typically told before each Presidential election that it is important and historic, I believe the upcoming election will determine what kind of America future generations will inherit," Robertson's letter--first published by InTheseTimes.com--begins. "If we elect candidates who want to spend hundreds of billions in borrowed money on costly new subsidies for a few favored cronies, put unprecedented regulatory burdens on businesses, prevent or delay important new construction projects, and excessively hinder free trade, then many of our more than 50,000 U.S. employees and contractors may suffer the consequences, including higher gasoline prices, runaway inflation, and other ills. This is true regardless of what your political affiliation might be." Last week, David Siegel, the founder and CEO of Florida-based Westgate Resorts, sent an email to employees informing them that layoffs are likely if Obama is reelected. As Gawker noted, Siegel and his wife were the subjects of "The Queen of Versailles," a recent documentary "about their ongoing quest to build the largest house in America." And Siegel has often claimed credit for George W. Bush's victory over Al Gore in the 2000 presidential race. ("I had my managers do a survey on every employee [8,000 total]," Siegel told Bloomberg BusinessWeek. "If they liked Bush, we made them register to vote. But not if they liked Gore.") Siegel and the Koch brothers are not alone in issuing anti-Obama missives to employees. According to MSNBC, Arthur Allen, chief executive of ASG Software Solutions, wrote a similar email to his staffers on Sept. 30. In the email, Allen added: "I am asking you to give us one more chance to stay independent by voting in a new President and administration on November 6th." http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/koch-industries-sends-pro-romney-packet-employees-195709471--election.html

ganeshran
Republicans want small government but want the government to dictate whether a woman can have a medical procedure or not. They want the government to prohibit two consenting adults from having a marriage. All this small big government talk is just an excuse. Republicans want tax cuts for the rich at the expense of social security given out to the majority. That is the core election issue here.

Want to learn in depth and more about US but not sure where to start. Thanks in advance. A candidate needs 270 electoral college votes (out of a total of 538) to win the election. Each state has got a certain number of electoral college votes. Whoever wins the overall popular vote in a state gets all the electoral college votes from that state. So it may happen (as in the 2000 Bush-Gore election) that a candidate loses the popular vote but ends up winning the Election - this may happen if the states that particular candidate has won have more electoral college votes than the ones won by his opponent. Ex - its possible (though I don't think it will happen in the near future) that a candidate wins only 11 States and still wins the election - Link As for the book, I don't think there would be any single book that would deal with all of these topics together.
