Asif- 6 Tests-30 wickets@ 21.16, SR 38.6 Sreesanth-7 Tests-35 wickets@ 24.4, SR 42.4 Gul- 14 Tests-61 wickets@ 30.62, SR 51.4 Munaf- 6 Tests-24 wickets@ 28.33, SR 57.2 Zaheer- 44 Tests, 129 wickets@ 36.1, SR 65.2 Shabbir- 10 Tests, 51 wickets@ 23.03, SR 50.5 Kaneria- 43 Tests, 183 wickets @32.85, SR 65.3 Kumble- 112 Tests, 542 wickets@ 28.56, SR 65.1 Ours doesn't look all that bad, does it? A shadow hangs over Asif for obvious reasons, while Shabbir has had to remodel his action after a one year ban. Interesting to see how they go.

Re: Comparing current Indian attack with Pakistan's Why include a man who has not even on the first XI, Sooda? I doubt he'll make any sort of comeback. Fat, old and out of shape describes him quite nicely. By the time WADA are done with him, he should be comfortably in retirement.

Re: Comparing current Indian attack with Pakistan's Our bench strength is practically nil, on the contrary. We've seen the dross that VRV dishes out, haven't we? Agarkar, Nehra? Gimme a break! Balaji has injured his back again, and his career is practically over. Pakistan have Shahid Nazir, who is quite a capable bowler. I am discounting Sami, who has also been chosen for this tour.

Re: Comparing current Indian attack with Pakistan's The most interesting comparisons are between the two pace spearheads from both countries. It's very very difficult to choose between Asif+Gul and Sreesanth+Munaf, as things stand. Kumble trumps Kaneria and going by the stats, Shabbir, if he can carry his form of a year ago while bowling legally, is much better than Zaheer.

Re: Comparing current Indian attack with Pakistan's I know he has hada poor start to his test career but for the tour of SA i would like to see Rana Naved in for Shabbir or may be Shahid Nazir. How ever overall you have a point that with out Shoaib(who i think shouldn't be a part of the team for the next 6 months to a year) in the team both attacks do look quite similar.

Re: Comparing current Indian attack with Pakistan's

Naved is a really overrated Test bowler' date=' MP, please take it from me. You will be disappointed if you pin your hopes on him.[/quote'] Rana looked very good against ENG last year and after that series he has only been given 1 test match. So i feel that if he shows good form in the warm-up match then he should be picked ahead of S Nazir or M Sami.

Shabbir' date=' if he can carry his form of a year ago while bowling legally, is much better than Zaheer.[/quote'] Agreed with everything you wrote except this. Zaheer is a new man now--he has bowled as well as anyone, but just doesn't have enough wickets to show for it. Absolutely no contest between him and Shabbir. It would be like comparing Pollock and Bret Lee.

Re: Comparing current Indian attack with Pakistan's Shabbir has never bowled legally and taken wickets ......... Once again he will go wicketless and then in second innings will go banana just like in multan against english team just like against west indies in carribean, and hopefully this time ICC ends this farce for good.. too many matches are being decided by blatant chuck..

Re: Comparing current Indian attack with Pakistan's indias pace attack is legitimate, a good sign towards the world cup. I feel like pakistans bowling attack is self proclaimed better by the pakistan selectors, but recently it would be very hard to say that they are a better bowling unit because we have better spinners, we have legitimate bowling actions. Sreesanth Munaf VRV Zaheer Agarkar Irfan Nehra Balaji Ishant Sharma is not bad at all.

Good post Dhondy. I think India finally has a settled bowling attack for the first time in a few years, whereas we're still not 100% sure what is our 1st choice attack. Without Shoaib, for me it would be, Asif-Nazir-Gul plus one out of Rana and Kaneria and i would play Afridi instead of Shoaib Malik.

Re: Comparing current Indian attack with Pakistan's

Never heard Turbantor ever getting banned for chucking ' date=' but whatver keeps ur miserable self happy :wtg:[/quote'] Just like Shabbir he too was reported in 2 consecutive test matches first in the 2nd test vs BAN and then again in the 2nd test vs PAK....the difference with Harbajhan was that they only questioned him for one specific delivery(doosra). So as i understand the ICC has or had banned all of them(Malik, Harbajhan, M Hafeez and Murli) from bowling the doosra yet both Murli and Harbajan never stopped bowling it. Even many of the other cricketing experts believe that no one other than Saqlain Mushtaq can legally bowl the doosra and feel that it should be totally banned from cricket.
