Lord
He needs some rest as well. He has very rarely missed a int'l/IPL match due to an injury or due to rest. yes.he needs a break.captaincy is mentally exhausting too.needs a permanent break there:P Link to comment
Number
Lets hope our(ROI) team does well in the captaincy of whoever is captaining it. At the same same time Saha/Karthik whoever gets a chance does well, that will put his ass on fire. Link to comment

The thing that may result in the highlighted bit is what starts after the Aus series. A bad IPL with CSK not making it to the semis and hence the CLT20, that may result in some churn. Link to comment

BeautifulGame
Say yes to IPL no matter how long you have been playing cricket but no to a domestic tourney. :nice: If he wants to rest he should go for it during the 2 months long IPL. I suppose it's pretty easy decision to skip a trophy watched by 100s than a tournament watched by billions Link to comment

Cevno
So this means he is pretty sure of keeping his test spot as well as captaincy ? Maybe a keeper can score a triple century in Irani trophy and push him into pressure. Link to comment
Cevno
Will be a faceoff between Rahane and Rohit this to get into the Indian team probably. Would ideally like others to get chance in ROI team except current players as much as possible. Link to comment
Sean Bradley
Well deserved rest for dhoni, he has been playing non stop intl cricket and coming out of a losing streak, he should pack his bag and go on a honeymoon to honolulu with rohit sharma. Link to comment
ganeshran
Why would he want to play domestic cricket when his test position and captaincy is secure? He has figured that however he performs in future, it is unlikely to be worse than the 10-1 scoreline that the team has experienced under him in last 2 years. So why bother? Link to comment
DarthSimian
Thats what is wrong in indian cricket. Or you can say that it is what is popular in Indian cricket. Following T20 instead of tests is not wrong. It is just preference. Link to comment
Clarke
What kind of idiot was expecting him to play that ? His fingers must hurt day in & out with the non-stop wicket keeping besides him being the best ODI batsman. Link to comment

His fingers do not hurt when playing Ipl .Its not only about this match He does not bother to play ranji trophy when he is free even when the break is long. The problem we've faced recently is cricketers prioritizing IPL over international games, and there's some who see no wrong in it. Before the IPL came, it was prioritizing commercial shoots over domestic games. So lets sort the fundamental issues first before we can consider the prospect of our best players playing the domestic game. Link to comment

He plays everything, tests/odis/T20s, keeps wickets in every damn game, captains in every format and is a prolific limited overs (mostly ODIs) batsman. There's simply no comparison between his workload and others mentioned. Link to comment

King Tendulkar
Should be sacked as captain in all formats and axed from test team. However, needs a rest. No need to play irani. But of course raring to go for fat cement owner Link to comment
