JaFanatic
Any ideas? I think someone subconsciously started an Anti Vijay Club... :hysterical: Link to comment
kubrickian
Vijay is still a FTB' date='he just curbed his natural instincts of throwing his bat at good balls early on in his innings when the aussies bowled tight lines before lunch.[/quote'] He is not even an FTB. He averages 28 in 13 test matches and 17 in 11 ODIs. :hysterical: I'm amazed he managed to bat through the whole day. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
He showed so much restraint while batting. It would be easy to get carried away watching Pujara nonchalantly demolishing Australian pacers. Link to comment
carnish
:hatsoff: Lovely innings ... great application, patience and trust in his abilities. Truly an innings to remember. Link to comment

Dumbbells
I am watching highlights and one thing I noticed was how well vijay negotiated short balls. He left them well. But he does not pull or hook like Pujara. Its a big drawback. Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
Pretty simple really and can be explained by an age old maxim... "If you stay on the wkt, runs will come". Credit to Vijay for sticking around for so long without playing a brain-dead shot especially in the 1st session. Didn't think he had it in him to buckle down, see off Aussies quicks (Pattinson & Siddle) and milk the rest. Link to comment

Ultimate_Game
literally' date=' runs have [s']come crawled up to Mooli, instead of him scoring them. Well that was the way players like Boycott, Tavare, Mark Richardson etc. were able to score - simply by occupying crease for long periods. Link to comment
Vanarp22
:two_thumbs_up: I really think people should stop hating. Link to comment
rkt.india
flat track. He never had problem batting in India. Link to comment
urbestfriend
Vijay showed tremendous application at the crease, he almost never touched a ball outside offstump and bouncers. He played good defense to good length balls and milked the spinners. Yet his scoring shots are not so convincing, he plays some nice cover drive and leg side flicks, but otherwise predetermined shots for spinners which has come off well in this match. Link to comment
Vilander
i think people hate him because he breaks stereotypes and is a bit of a showoff. Link to comment
I6MTW
If he scores a double century in south africa his spot will be sealed for 2-3 years. Link to comment

Number
i think people hate him because he breaks stereotypes and is a bit of a showoff. What stereotype ? Agree, he tries to look good while on the ground. Bit like KP does but KP has natural swag. Link to comment

Bit like KP does but KP has natural swag. why would you compare him with KP...KP is acomplished. Vijay is a rookie compared to him, if Vijay proves himself in the next couple of years, all this would look good like it does with KP now, its quite natural. Cheering for the veteran and booing the rookie. Link to comment
yoda
If he scores a double century in south africa his spot will be sealed for 2-3 years. He needs to average > 40, that will be considered a success in South Africa. Link to comment
