Good odi player. Decent bowler, fielder and batsman for odis. A good bits and pieces player. But we must not confuse this with thinking he is a test player. His bowling is not good enough nor batting good enough. This would be classic case of picking a player in format he is not suited. It is same as picking yuvraj or raina for tests, great odi players but not suited to the higher examantion of test cricket. And believe me test cricket is a higher examantion of technique and mental strength. Jadeja can't play quailty short of length bowling or good pace or good swing bowling. Nor can raina or yuvraj frankly, although they are still better bats then jadeja. Jadejas bowling is also defo not good enough. Nice stock bowler/containment bowler in odis but in tests does not get the turn / bounce or variation needed. Just not good enough. We must pick players and groom a test team that has players who can deliver not just at home but in overseas conditions as well. Jadeja will be brutally exposed in bouncing/moving tracks overseas. In fact he may well be exposed at home as well, like in only test against england. Keep him away from test team!

Agreed but what makes you say he isn't a good batsman? 1 innings and a peach from Anderson, would have troubled anyone. I wouldn't mind benching him in home game. Should be no where near the team in oversees.
I have seen loads of him in odis and other games. Seriously hates in when banged in and some serious pace even pitched up. Just does not have the tools for the highest level, no matter how many triples he gets. His bowling is also no way near good enough. I am scared he is going to be regular in test team, he may just about do ok at home against aussies. Then from there he will in team for overseas tour and be horrendous

You are talking about some time ago when he used to struggle against short ball. In the only test innings he batted, he got a great ball from Anderson and got out lbw. He has improved playing against short pitch bowling recently as he did well in ODI series in England. He looks a much improved bowler and batsmen recently. Dont judge players and write them off without giving them opportunities.

He'll be brutally exposed in away ODIs as well.
Scored 78 against England at the Oval after his comeback. But he is a late order batsmen who generally has to slog at the death overs and often gets out cheaply in doing so. If he has a few overs to play himself in, he will do a much better job. He did a good job overseas as a spinner which is very tough because pitches are not conducive to spin. Cherry picking a few innings does not change the fact that he averages 40 with the ball in England and 109, yes that's right ONE HUNDRED AND NINE in Australia. And he averages 16, yeah that's right SIXTEEN with the bat in Australia. And he averages 3.5 in West Indies, yeah that's THREE POINT FIVE. One fluky 78 does not change these facts nor does pasting some bowling figures where he took 2 wickets at most.

Ashwin struggled as well.
