Karnataka has in recent years voted parties in the opposition at Center. 99-04 SM Krishna was the CM when BJP was in power, 2004-08 - hung assembly, 2008-13 BJP in state with UPA at Center. And every alternate election has seen a hung assemly as well and with every passing day, they are again predicting a hung assembly again. 1983ji, all your surveys are from the period before the candidate selection. Congress has hurt itself by giving tickets to a lot of discredited moneybags, lots of infighting with every CM hopeful trying to pin down the other one. Sample- the PCC chief Parmeshwar says "I am a long loyalist of Gandhi family and am sure the new entrants to the party will not be rewarded" in a dig against another CM hopeful Siddaramaiah who joined Congress from JD-S. SM Krishna hasn't been involved much in the entire process and even publicly criticized the candidate list picked. You also have Mallikarjun Kharge and Veerappa Moily playing their caste cards and complete loyalty to dynasty. Then there is Margaret Alwa, right now a governor who has been making repeated trips to 10JP and people say could be a candidate foisted by the Gandhis. That BJP will lose is certain, but if Congress will get the majority is not so sure unless there's a last minute surge in favour of them for a single party government like what we have seen in some recent assembly elections.

BJP might have infighting in the party but the governance was quite good. There was focus on infrastructure creation, power situation was good (in Bangalore at least). The problems which were not taken care were the poor garbage collection and water
the Govt might have been good but due to BSY and Reddy Brothers etc the perception is of corruption and Cong has been targeting that and in all probability, it will get beneit from that.

It will most likely be congress because of anti incumbency + corruption allegations. The problem is that if JDS is part of the government they are likely to be 10 times as corrupt as BJP

Right now it certainly looks like a hung assembly with JDS playing kingmaker which means a corrupt Govt. If this does happen then BJP should get benefit in the lok Sabha elections.
