G_B_
New Delhi: The BCCI is considering the option to shift seventh edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) out of India on account of the General Elections slated to be held in 2014 around the same time as the two-month long tournament. In 2009, the second edition of IPL was hosted by South Africa due to same reason when the then Home Minister P Chidambaram had refused to guarantee security for the high profile tournament. The impasse between the cricket board and the Indian government led to the decision of moving IPL out of the country at the last moment. According various media reports, the cricket board, in order to avoid the repetition of the 2009, has already swung into action contacting the cricket boards of countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. South Africa looks the best option to hold an even of the stature of IPL as it has already successfully done it in the past. However, in the event of only a few matches needed to be shifted, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka could be considered as the possible options. http://zeenews.india.com/sports/cricket/ipl-2014-likely-to-be-shifted-out-of-india_768584.html
