umesh concerns me with injuries because he is a genuine fast bowler and i foresee more such injuries like the one he suffered during england series because of bowling fast consistently on dead Indian tracks. Back injuries are always harmful.
back injuries happen at start of career wasim akram, waqar younis and i think brett lee and johnson too had them when they were young .. truth is yadav only got injured once in career while all other young fast bowlers in world like de lange, cummings, pattinson, starc etc etc have already gotten injured dozen of times in same time frame .

i remember them he did increase bit of pace but i dont believe difference between 130 and 135 is big enough to make impact..he just bowled with lot more control and with plan and swung the old and new ball.. are you really going to use zack and anderson as examples for fast bowling ? :giggle: i do not think anderson has bowled 90 mph after the indian series in england ever again and if u see pace of pandey he is easily over 130 k and jump to 135 is expected as international level as most bowlers increase pace when playing at highest level bhuvi is good example of this..
Even recently Anderson was clocking around 140 against NZ in ODIs before the Ashes. He was averaging 84 mph(136K) in that series which is very good as an average speed. Look at this first test at Lords against India, quickest ball 89 mph in first innings, 87 mph in second innings. I am not saying pace is only thing, but it is an added advantage, an x-factor to use as a surprise weapon, not as a stock ball. http://www.espncricinfo.com/england-v-india-2011/engine/matc/474472.html?view=hawkeye second test in England. quickest 88.8 mph. http://www.espncricinfo.com/england-v-india-2011/engine/matc/474473.html?view=hawkeye Third test, quickest 89.4 mph. http://www.espncricinfo.com/england-v-india-2011/engine/matc/474474.html?view=hawkeye Fourth test, quickest again 89 mph. http://www.espncricinfo.com/england-v-india-2011/engine/matc/474475.html?view=hawkeye

yeah he was inconsistent and guess what he did ? he decreased pace and increased accuracy to become a better bowler . you are not getting me here if zack can bowl with same accuracy and at 140 k i am not denying he would be better bowler but my point is he cannot and he did not and was successful none the less. you said you need pace to be good at home i disagree and zack is perfect example who was average bowler with pace but got better when he polished other skills and pace did not even mattered .
He was successful and become more consistent not because he decreased pace, but because he worked on his action and played in county. He decreased his pace because he was lazy, never worked hard on his fitness enough to sustain that pace.

point taken but umesh is now entering his peak years so even one injury like the one he suffered in motera can put him out for a year. i hope he is looked after well

i already said since thatienglish tour he has not hit 90 mph even once also this does not proves anything what we are talking about is whether pace is needed to be successfull in india or not ? and each and every bowler other than steyn i look at actually did well in india with normal pace around 133-137 same with anderson and zack

getting wickets, even back in 09 he had a healthy average in tests, albeit he didnt play that many. :--D http://stats.espncricinfo.com/guru?caughthigh=;enddefault=2013-02-24;conchigh=;conclow=;wicketslow=;dismissal=0;runslow=;playerid=47154;bowposition=0;homeaway=0;dismissalslow=;scheduleddays=0;notopposition=0;stumpedhigh=;finals=0;dismissalshigh=;end=2013-02-24;viewtype=aro_list;groundid=0;daynight=0;captain=0;startdefault=2004-12-17;continent=0;notcountry=0;innings=0;class=testplayer;caughtlow=;team=0;result=0;season=2009%2F10;start=2004-12-17;caughttype=0;bpof=0;seriesresult=0;opposition=0;submit=1;csearch=;ballshigh=;stumpedlow=;wicketshigh=;country=0;toss=0;overslow=;filter=basic;sdb=player;tourneyid=0;runshigh=;scheduledovers=0;dnp=0;overshigh=;ballslow=;batposition=0;followon=0;recent=;keeper=0;.cgifields=viewtype i feel yadav with the next year all overseas will have multiple opportunities to transcend from what he is now to a deadly bowler. he will gain enough experience to come out a real, dangerous bowler. just my opinion
he is 30 years old now so should see 2007 season when he made come back agaisnt new zealand or west indies i think.. anyway he was beast from start but most quick bowlers peak at 28 even steyn was at his best during that time

Man pick the guy right away, wickets in last Ranji season, wickets for India A and now this. Doesnt have to do more to get into the test squad. I hope belonging to MP doesn't hurt his chances as MPCA is opposed to Srini.
i can't imagine how they will be able to ignore him specially after that a tour.. quota selection is one thing but some players are just too good to be effected by that.. he is easily better than any other bowler in domestic cricket

It will be interesting to see if he added some pace as he said after the south Africa tour. If he is bowling at 135 plus' date=' I would love to see him picked for Indian team right now...[/quote'] he already bowled around 135 last season he is no tundler but some times you lose rhythm but iwth his height and built even 140k is possible

not 135, but around 130-132. He did bowled 136 few deliveries, but not consistently though. I would say his average pace was around 132 kmp.
