SA recall Albie Morkel for T20s, maiden call-up for Hendricks

Allrounder Albie Morkel has been recalled to South Africa's squad for the three T20s against Australia and the forthcoming World Twenty20. The other major addition to the squad is fast bowler Beuran Hendricks, who earned a maiden call-up after finishing as the leading wicket-taker - 28 wickets in 11 games at an average of 10.28 - in the recent Ram Slam T20 challenge. Morkel, who holds the record for most Twenty20 appearances, last played for South Africa in October 2012 during the World T20 in Sri Lanka. Since then, the allrounder featured in IPL 2013 and was also signed by Derbyshire as their T20 specialist for last season's Friends Life t20 competition. In the Ram Slam T20, Morkel scored 202 runs in 10 games at an average of 28.85 and took two wickets. "Both Beuran and Albie fully deserve their selection following outstanding campaigns in the Ram Slam T20," Andrew Hudson, CSA's selection convener, said. "As always, there are unlucky players but we feel we have chosen the right combination for the conditions we are likely to encounter on the sub-continent. "Beuran's claims could not be ignored and the experience that Albie will bring on board is important for a high-profile tournament of this nature. The bulk of these players (11 out of 15) were part of our squad that won their T20 series in Sri Lanka last year under similar conditions." South Africa squad for Australia T20s and World T20: Faf du Plessis (capt), Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Beuran Hendricks, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Albie Morkel, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Aaron Phangiso, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe

Uncapped Cottrell in World T20 side

West Indies will be without Kieron Pollard in their World Twenty20 defence after he was ruled out due to his ongoing recovery from a knee injury. All 13 men named for the Twenty20s against Ireland this month were included in the World Twenty20 squad, along with the batsman Johnson Charles and fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell, while there was no room for Tino Best. Cottrell, 24, has played one Test against India in Kolkata last year but is yet to make his debut in either of the shorter formats for West Indies. A left-arm fast bowler from Jamaica, he played for the Antigua Hawksbills at the Caribbean Premier League last year and collected eight wickets at 21.75 and an economy rate of 6.44. Charles was also included after missing out on the Ireland games; he struggled on the recent limited-overs tour of New Zealand but has the potential to be a matchwinner at the top of the order. However, West Indies will be hurt by the absence of another clean striker, with Pollard still recovering from a knee injury he sustained last year. Pollard injured his knee while playing in a charity football match and he said last month that he was holding out some hope of being available for the World T20, but his recovery did not prove quick enough to allow him to be considered for selection. West Indies are the reigning World T20 champions after beating hosts Sri Lanka in the final in Colombo in October 2012. West Indies squad Darren Sammy (capt), Samuel Badree, Dwayne Bravo, Johnson Charles, Sheldon Cottrell, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Krishmar Santokie, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith.

Extremely unfair with Aizaz Cheema to not include him for AsiaCup as well as WT20 especially when we are picking Malik, Akmal & Tanvir again. Cheema is highest wicket-taker in recently ended domestic T20 cup 6 Matches, 11 wkts with an avg of 13, SR 12

Two U-19 players included in UAE T20 squad

United Arab Emirates included two uncapped players in their 15-member squad for the ICC World T20 in Bangladesh. 18-year-old Moaaz Qazi and 20-year-old Rohit Singh, who were both part of the team playing the Under-19 World Cup have earned call-ups to the senior team. Two other players - Sharif Asadullah and Faizan Asif - are making a comeback to the side. Asadullah played the last of his two T20s in August 2013 while Faizan, who has played four List A matches for the team, hasn't been a part of the team since playing against Ireland in March 2013. UAE, led by Khurram Khan, are placed in Group B of the qualifying round along with Zimbabwe, Ireland and Netherlands. Bowling is non existent so will be a tough ask for the entire tournament as we have to deal with Australia Westindies Pakistan (will come down to who chokes) . Msd in t20 is not that great is ok in this format. Have to rely heavily on batsman again to post good scores

India need to play more international T20s Just glanced through our squad. Mohammed shami, Binny, Mohit Sharma and Varun Aaron have played a grand sum of 0 T20s for team India. Clearly one of these four is going to be picked alongside Bhuvi. Mostly its going to be Shami. We do have 2 warm up matches v Sri Lanka and England. But warms ups are nothing compared to the real thing. Dinesh Kartik can testify. In last seasons IPL Mohit Sharma played his first IPL season, Shami played 3 games and Varun Aaron was unfit and skipped them. Binny to be fair has had a couple of solid seasons for the royals.

Mohit is very likely to play as 3rd seamer if there is one. dhoni will accomodate sharma and leave out rahane or open with rahane and slot in sharma , might even compromise a bowler Should be Dhawan, Rahane, Kohli, Yuvi, Dhoni, Raina, Jadeja at 7, ashwin/Mishra at 8, then 3 seamers. As for lack of experience, dont worry. Get the basics right and we will do well. Need the yorkers and wickets to come. Hope shami turns up because he looks tired. Still, we have aaron, he should play in a practice game at least. Can be good if he gets that good channel coming.

They don't need to.....maintains the uniqueness of IPL....I mean if you want to watch Indian stars in T20 then IPL is the place to,go-makes perfect sense from a business point of view. But yes as an Indian fan I would like to see T20's in a full series along with tests and ODI's.

I think bowling in a t20 is different from an ODI. The pacers need to be a bit more defensive.

No Thank you. IPL is already there to make our bats picked bad habits.
I never get this point.....I mean a good cricketer will immediately adjust accordingly...I eman look at someone like Steyn-Fair enough that he is once in a life time cricketer but someone like Raina-Ipl has nothing todo with his technique-Imean give a bouncy pitch in an IPL game and unleash Johnson,he will still struggle. Yuvi struggled in tests even before IPL. The only guy we can make a case for is Vijay but apart from that I don't think IPL or T20 should effect other aspects of a player's game
