putrevus
Indian bowlers have let many teams recover from five wickets for less than 100 but Indians have rarely recovered from five wickets less than 100 and score more than 350 runs away from sub continent. Indian team young and not much experienced is going to play many overseas tests and they will find themselves in this sort of situations but can they stages this kind of recovery ?. Link to comment

Cricketics
Depends on how well our tail bats. It's not that easy for Ashwin to score and hang around in Durban or other places. In Australia it can happen. Link to comment
fineleg
In SA if India are 83-5 most likely max is 150 all out. Link to comment
Number
Lets hope we are not 83/5 very often in the first place. Link to comment
Laaloo
Lets hope we are not 83/5 very often in the first place. Well Vijay is not very convincing so 0/1 is possible right out of the gate Link to comment
G_B_
The answer is yes. When in Indian history have we had such a strong batting tail? Probably have to go back to the days of when Kirmani batted at 9. Link to comment
G_B_
and speaking of SA i think many teams in SA will go from being 83/5 to 300 plus the reason being the new ball in SA is everything. On the recent A tour of SA both India A and South Africa A went through such score. Both were like 20/4 before recovering to put on decent scores. Link to comment
Magneto
Well Vijay is not very convincing so 0/1 is possible right out of the gate Vijay might be playing his last series. A longer rope will take him to South Africa against Morkel, Philander and another guy whose name I can't remember. EOS after that. Link to comment
Trundler27
This is not a common feat in test match cricket imo. That is what makes this form of the game the ultimate test! The OP seems to suggest that other teams have made a habit of digging themselves out of such holes.... I don't think so. The fact that such a recovery is fairly rare makes some of the innings played during such recoveries memorable for a long time (E.g., laxman's historic 281, Gilchrist's counter attacking ton against Pak in 1999, lara's stunning exploits multiple times against the aussies, pietersens first ton against the aussies in 2005, etc) This current recovery can be categorized as a remarkable turnaround on this spinning track with variable bounce so let's give credit to Rohit and Ashwin for a ridiculuous partnership Link to comment

Number
Vijay will come good. He has looked determined in the last tests. Even in one of the IPL games, he told Mayanti Langer that he values test cricket more than any other form. Link to comment
