Bhuvneshwar Kumar is nothing special

Recommended Posts

Lol, these threads should be made if a bowler has had a absolute piece of shyt game where he has bowled terrible. Bhuvneshwar actually bowled some brilliant overs in the game. Don't just go by dropped catch and stats always. He is still the best bowler in India whom I would depend on taking wickets most of the time.

He will be a very good bowler in conditions which assist seam bowling as he showed in Champions Trophy and WI tri series, not on Indian dead pitches where there is no help for seam or swing bowlers. Still he has done a good job here. Getting Gayle out in both innings and bowling a very good line and length.

ohhh..yeahhh as if there are likes of steryn's, mcGrath's waiting in the wings......You should have seen him blowing against Pakistan in his debut series.....If there is little bit of help...he will do bowl talk He is a steady bowler who can do supporting role...he will never run thru the batting line-up but will do a wonderful support to Umesh and Shami by keeping one end tight and also...he will take couple of wickets with new bowl for sure....

and speaking of Bhuvi on indian pitches. He does average 25 odd with the ball on pitches in India in the ranjis spread over a lot of games. I am not 100% sure we can throw him on the scrap heap saying he is useless of Indian pitches otherwise he would not be averaging so low in domestic cricket

his home track hes fast bowlers and even there he is used heavily with new ball and he does the damage then and for rest of inning he is not really some one u can use for wickets like shami

it has to count for something. Lets be honest, if Bhuvi can dismiss say 2-3 on a regular basis in India with his opening spells , we can keep Umi and Shami for the old ball bowling. Problem has been he has only been picking a solitary wicket or so.

Shami is not going to take wickets like this every match that is when other pace bowler needs to contribute and BK will average 40 in India then it is not good enough. Shami and Umesh have shown that they can be impact bowlers at least in India. BK is just a good steady bowler.

B.k should be played in odis and when conditions suit him.On these pitches it will only demoralize him and when he fails the same he does not have pace line will be used and he will try to gain pace with diff coaches and loose his swing and he will end up being another irfan.

Bhuvi has been a very economical bowler in ODIs, economy rate 4.3, avg. 29, 27 wickets from 22 matches. In tests, he has just 8 wickets from 5 matches. Avg. 36.5, strike rate 63. He is a good odi bowler but very average test bowler. We must demarcate between that. Bhuvi should play tests in Eng, NZ etc. but not in the subcontinent. Let's be realistic. We should take wicket taking bowlers like Umesh and Shami in tests.

Irfan didnt try to gain pace.he was already 135k bowler.he tried to focus on batting and lost his bowling. I think BK will try to improve and add a bit of pace and include yorkers etc.

No he tried to gain pace .He was bowling at 125s in pak when he got the hatrick and news was always about his pace.Journos kept asking ghim why he was bowling slow ,Micheal holding ,imran khan, andy roberts, wasim akram,he went to all .Holding said change your grip u will bowl fast, garner said change ur run up,wasim said bowl out swing and he was lost even though irfan had a cricketing brain. .He himself admitted the fact. Indian fast bowlers improving is as rare as they come. Our fast bowlers degrade except zak.

He pace slowed down once he changed his action due a back injury from side on to mixed and in that series, you must have seen his crooked-thumb grip that got him swing but lead to loss of pace.
