If batsmen can bring their own custom bats with metals why can bowlers use zips on the cricket ball ?

HOW ABOUT LETTING THE BOWLERS (at least bowling-team as a whole) BRING THEIR OWN BALLS? AFTER ALL, BATSMEN BRING THEIR OWN BATS, WHICH THEY HAVE TRIED & TESTED IN THE NETS THEN WHY NOT ALLOW THE BOWLERS TO DO THE SAME! This could be a revolutionary change in the sport & even the balance between bat & ball, flat pitches won't matter, neither will short boundaries or big bats.Think about it, do the umpires bring a bunch of bats for batsmen to choose when starting their innings? NO, they bring their own bats! Is there a condition that batsmen must bring only NEW bats? NO, they can bring old bats too, which they have played with, tried & tested in nets or anywhere else. Similarly, let the bowling-team bring their own set of balls, which are "conditioned" to do what they want them to do! For example, Pak team might prefer to start the innings with an old ball they brought along that is reversing; those who like new balls may bring balls from manufacturers whose new balls swing & so on
The ball is released into the field of action unlike the bat that is kept on person like the pads, so it does make sense to keep the balls as part of standard gear but still probably it should be allowed to meddle with the balls with some standard equipment say bottle caps.:winky:
