SLICKR392
what rubbish? Rohit played a big in role us winning CB series 2008. He had lean patch after that and was always in and out and also never had a long run. It is just a perception that Rohit has not done anything. He averaged 38 in 2010, 55 in 2011 in ODIs, was poor in 2012 and was rightly dropped from the XI after that for England series and only came back as an opener against England when GG, Viru, and Rahane failed at opening and he grabbed the opportunity. Even in his inconsistent phases, Rohit had shown the spark and match winning abilities with 2 MOS performances home and away on difficult pitches. How lean was that patch? In which series prior to the CT did he contribute in? In 2011, he has that one good series against WI at home & away. Seriously, would Rahane be selected if he have had a pathetic run in 2 consecutive series? Had a horrendous series in SL. Gets selected for the Pak series. Failed there as well and gets a shot in the England series. Whereas Rahane doesn't score in 2 out of 3 games against England and that's all the chance he gets. You can't expect a player to perform after being juggled around and picking him out of blue after being benched for over an year. And he did grab his opportunity in England but had a lousy series against them at home and guess what? He gets dropped. He's unsure of his spot in the side after being played around and his confidence has hit the ground. Selection is to be blamed for it, not Rahane. I am glad Rohit is doing well but don't give me this grabbing the opportunity crap. Rohit hooked on to his spot in the XI after plenty of backing from the selectors and captain. Rahane hasn't had that luxury. Link to comment

Rahane hasn't had that luxury. and It is not like Rohit has played every match since his debut. Every player gets picked and dropped. Rahane can only play in top 3 and if there is no space, then how will he be picked. Dhawan came and scored runs, Rohit did the same. If anyone of them do not perform for en extended period, Rahane is the first person to that place. There is a reason Rahane is preferred over Pujara in ODI squad while Pujara h as already shown that he belongs to international level. Rahane has shown big weakness against genuine fast bowling. Put him back in middler order in odis will still struggle and all you lot will start bitc'hing after him:giggle: Link to comment

ruchi49
i think they are capable as good in playing in one day squad rather than playing in test matches because they are giving great performance in one day matches and both don't have played much in test matches Link to comment

Ram
http://www.espncricinfo.com/south-africa-v-india-2013-14/content/story/696607.html Not surprising.. The last time we went abroad, MSD looked by and large clueless with the bat. The 8-0 drubbing against England/Australia was the lowest point of MSD's career as a batsmen. Link to comment
GoldenSun
Good to see that he has integrity to work on his form and ready himself for the tests. I think the 0-8 really hurt him personally. 4 months prior to that England tour, he was the toast of the nation, and somewhere, it became a nightmare. Link to comment
cowboysfan
If the champions trophy was a good indicator on how the Saffers would bowl to us then we can safely say they will continue to bowl short and test us,the pitch was not that quick and our batsmen took them on on even though they got hit in the head a few times. They would probably avoid a patta and go for a hard pitch.
