GolGappe
Why is winning away from home becoming a very difficult task for teams lately? England got wiped out in UAE, couldn't beat NZ away, and face a whitewash in Australia. Although they did beat jaded India in India. India back to back whitewashes. Things not looking up in RSA either. Australians were comprehensively beaten in India and England. Pakistan was clean-swept in RSA and couldn't even trump Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe. NZ, WI, and SL are in the same boat. RSA is the only exception. They've done well away from home because of a freak bowling attack and a very stable batting core. You would think due to cross-pollination of all these 20/20 leagues, players would be better prepared for away conditions. Is it easy money spoiling the cricketers? Too used to comforts and can't put up a resistance in hostile conditions? Or is shorter format messing up the techniques of modern day batsmen. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
At home no need of learning to adapt yourself. When you go overseas you need as many guy as possible to adapt themselves. If you have large group of people strugglign to adapt and few who are out of form they affect each other and whole tour will be shambolic. This is where having good bowlers come into play. If you have a guy like Steyn no opposiion will dare to offer you a green top. If you go with ishant sharma, Vinay kumar scenario is different. Same way if you go with tweakers like Warne, Murali teams will be apprehensive about giving you turning wickets. Link to comment
cricketlove
because we do not have home advantage away. Link to comment
coffee_rules
England beat not a jaded India , but a new look India, without Dravid or Laxman. They only took care of Tendulkar, and our bowling folded to Cook, and Pieterson. Monty and Swann and Monty Outbowled Asswin and Ojha. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
If India wants spinners to be successful for India, we have to back UDRS. Link to comment
Trichromatic
Lack of quality bowlers is probably the biggest reason. In 90s every team had good bowlers. All batsmen enjoy home conditions. Even English batsmen who average 50 in swinging conditions, struggle to average 40 on flat pitches. Same goes with spinners. Offies can't succeed in Australia. Other spinners have struggled in conditions better suited for them for ex - India. However fast bowlers are only breed who may do better in away conditions than in home. So, if you have good fast bowlers, they can always take advantage of conditions even though it is alien. Once your pacers fail, it becomes really difficult to be win matches away. Link to comment
