GolGappe
Not convinced with Rahane in the middle order. Hopefully he will step up in next 2 games. He usually takes 20-25 balls to get going and if India is chasing 300+, this luxury can't be afforded. Yuvraj was such an ace ODI batsman. Got going right away, was a mad man in slog overs, and delivered in key game. Huge shoes to fill for Rahane. Link to comment
GolGappe
Ashwin is a better batsman than Dhoni and Jadeja in bowler-friendly conditions. India should be flexible with his batting position. Link to comment
Switchblade
On decision to field first If we ask the batsmen to bat first and give the bowlers a total, in a way then we are taking some pressure off them But the other way is that we might ask the batsmen to give 325-340 runs to bowlers every time they bat, irrespective of wherever they are playing. The short grounds are something we have to keep in mind. http://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/ravindra-jadeja-just-needs-to-get-his-thinking-right-mahendra-singh-dhoni/ Link to comment
Zap_Brannigan
The Sky studio commentators were praising Fletcher for the decision to bowl first. They were saying that since India is so good at batting first, fletcher was planning for the World cup, just in case we were asked to bowl first in the world cup. I was sitting here and wondering, when was the last time we actually batted first and we might lose touch in posting big scores if we all do is chase. Link to comment

Laaloo
Be patient. We are in the middle of a transition. We are slowly identifying who is hack who is the real deal. CT was good and all. But we cannot extrapolate those results in future and expect the same outcome everywhere. Whatever that happened in India shoudl be taken with a pinch of salt. It didn't exactly help us to start a tour straightaway without even practice match. Some guys are dead slow in adapting to the conditions. By the time they do series would be over. Problem is that the next series is in Asia against *****y teams. Players like Rohit and Jadeja will do make easy runs and cement their place. People won't remember this NZ or SA tour. veer
If we need the best results, we gotta make two different teams.. one for foreign pitches and one for sub continent.. ODIs as well as Tests.. Some players can play in both teams like cricketics mentioned but Pujara is a must for foreign pitches and can be liability for flat pitches. Opposite goes for Dhawan, liability for foreign and must for Indian pitches.. Link to comment
ThePhenomenal1
Problem is the bowling and captaincy. If you look at each ODI, we made 250-270 atleast and in 3rd ODI made over 300+. Had our bowlers performed even 20 runs better, the games were ours. Not a question of batting or fielding, but bowling.. if we get those middle overs right and use the best bowlers available with intention to take wickets and everyone does their bit then you will see India win a lot more. Huge pressure on batting side to chase 300ish scores overseas. Anyway, you saw the quality of indian team with Ashwin and Jadeja saving the match so that's that! Link to comment
Cricketics
Spare a thought for OP guys. OP is scared that NZ will take Pakistan's no. 5 ranking slot and will put Pakistan way below at no. 7 or 8. Link to comment

Iconoclast
Don't worry bhai .. India will be forever top 3 team no matter how many times they lose away ... and while we are on the subject of losing away BCCI's next goal will be to have all cricket matches take place in India :hitler: Link to comment

No team is winning everywhere. India won everything in England. Lost 2 in SA. Lost 2 in NZ. NZ was whitewashed in India and Bangladesh. Australia lost in India. England lost in India. SA lost in SA against Pakistan owned them in UAE. so don't tell me there is another team that has better record than India over the last 5 years. Just check ou win/loss India is head and shoulders above every other team. Link to comment

Opposite goes for Dhawan, liability for foreign and must for Indian pitches.. Fundamental problem is this. Bowling. In India , our batting can do super human things like chasing 350 plus totals. Outside they can't do that. At best 250 to 270. If you expect them to chase 350, 360, 300 even outside India then that is a tall order. Apart from the two ODIs in SA our batting has been decent abroad. In CT,. Unless India makes a concerted effort to restrict teams to totals like 220, 230 it is going to be hard work for batsmen. You cannot expect batsmen to chase 300 every single time. Link to comment
