Ravi Shastri is dead right in comparing Pakistan bowling attack in 1982 series to the great 1980s WI attack

VSSyjOnARqg When you have such an all time attack lead by Imran , Shakoor Ranas and Khizar Hayats, who could beat them. Messrs Shakoor Rana and Khizar Hayats were the great all rounders Pakistan had, they not only helped them to get 20 wickets but also helped score so many runs by not giving any lbws or caught behind in slips. India had no chance.

87 in India there were no Pakistani umpires. 99 Chennai and Eden Gardens they were no pakistani umpires. Banglore 05 no pakistani umpires. Pakistan having 70% win ratio in India in ODIs in last 30 years with no pakistani umpires. It's getting boring give it a rest. Sharamnaak signature.

You are underlining the points that this thread is making. Indian Umpires are not even half as bad Paki Umpires were. Otherwise -- you wouldn't have won even one let alone 3 or 4. So just say - Thank You -- for being neutral and keep walking !

I have seen it for far too long here. Any success that Pakistan had in 80s and 90s was either down to home umpires or fixing in Sharjah. Pakistan had fantastic record in ind(esp ODIs) Eng and NZ disproving this myth. Why can't we simply accept Pakistan were a decent team back then like India have been since 2002/03. We know India have owned us in ICC games. There is no shame in that because it's a sport after all. Sharamnaak signature.

There are 2 issues under discussion here. 1) Was Pakistan a good team back then? Yes 2) Were the Paki Umpires Shamelessly Biased -- Absolutely Yes! Did they Win a lot of their Test Matches because they were biased, quite possibly a large percentage because of the umpires. Absolutely Yes. I don't think even your modest self can deny that. If they were that good they would have won an equally good percentage -- or at least quite close to that even abroad. And we all know they did not do that. Also a lot of their home wins were massacres, and if one were to take a look as to how they won their games -- you would think the opposition were minnows. PS: I have always said this -- all home umpires were biased back then, except probably with the lone exception of 2 English Umpires. But Pakistani and Sri Lankan umpires were shamelessly biased. Just to throw an analogy - Stealing a Pencil from a shop and Murdering somebody are both crimes -- but degrees of crimes were vastly different. Kapish ?

You are one of the most neutral Pakistani posters. I considered your objection. It is true that the Pakistani team in the late 80s was good. Thing is, their genuine ability was undermined by some of your umpires and other issues. You should be disappointed at these umpires and fixers for taking away credit from a good Pakistan team of the 80s.

Until wasim akram came into picture in 1985 imran like kapil was lone wolf, pakistan was not that better in anyway than india in 1980s. Indians played 19 tests in 1980s against WI and 11 of them in 1983 alone that 1983 WI team is the best team in history of the game. So stats wise indian losses are more . Pakistan won in 1987 by lone test but it was very very close game . But what pakistan did in 1980s @ home was unreal and that was not just due their cricket talents. Indians in 1989 visited pakistan when pakistan had everything going for them except umpires result was a drawn series. It is only in 1990s pakistan became far better than indians but indians became than pakistan in 2000s.
