He certainly paid the price of being an ambitious leader who puts his team ahead of everything, and is ready to mess with anyone who would come in the path of disturbing the team's performance, be it BCCI, Greg Chappel or Shahrukh Khan/KKR. Sourav not being retained by KKR is a similar scenario to what happened a few days back - Sehwag not being retained by Delhi Daredevils. Fortunately for Sehwag, franchises like Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab were still very much keen on getting him, unlike what the case was with Ganguly.
