I think we will surprise a few ppl. Thing is there are not a lot of expectations which will play in our favor as there is gonna be little pressure. And England are very weak. They just lost a test series to SL ffs. I am expecting a 2-1 result either way. So even if we are on the receiving end a 2-1 loss is good progress

It will all depend on opening partnership. If India can sort it out they will win. My recommendation' date=' play 3 openers and bring kohli 2 down.[/quote'] If you can't take 20 wickets u can't win. Happened in SA and NZ. So close yet we can't get the last couple of wickets.

have a huge total to defend and the opposition wilts under pressure.
We had huge totals in SA and in NZ, both matches got drawn, were very close to lose it in SA. Our bowlers have no idea about how to bowl with discipline. If conditions are helpful they can trouble any batsman even if giving runs or boundaries as they can produce wicket taking deliveries but when not, they need to be disciplined which they lack.

Indians prepare for another gentle workout

Just a week ago, Rahul Dravid was a former India captain and a cricket pundit. He was speaking about the need for intense and competitive warm-up games. Although Dravid mentioned only the recent trend of counties putting up their 2nd XIs, it has not helped that India insist on using their whole squad as opposed to picking an XI, robbing these matches of their first-class status. A week later, Dravid is now part of the support staff, a batting consultant in the lead-up to the first Test, which begins in Nottingham on July 9. Dravid's presence in Derby on the eve of the warm-up game against Derbyshire is unlikely to make the game any more intense. India will play all their 18 players, with only 11 batting and 11 on the field at any given time, and the game is against Derbyshire, who might not need to play a second team to bring the intensity down: they are a place from the bottom of the second division, lost three players last week, and were pummeled by Durham in a Twenty20 on Sunday. Yet there is an incentive for India to get their intensity up. In their previous tour game, against Leicestershire, who are placed bottom of Division Two, their bowlers conceded 349 for 5 in 62 overs. Two of the five wickets were "retired out". Ishant Sharma and Pankaj Singh were the only two to get wickets. Even as the pressure grows on England after their defeat to Sri Lanka, the focus in the visitors' camp is squarely on their bowlers. With these quick bowlers, much maligned and missing their bowling captain Zaheer Khan, the intensity was high during India's only training session between the two tour games, on Monday. The lot of them reported at the ground an hour before the rest of the team, along with Duncan Fletcher-led support staff, Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara. There were no batsmen to bowl to, but the purpose of coming early was to put them through an endurance test. All of them had to do five laps of the ground, without stopping to catch a breath or walking in between before picking up again. Times were kept, charts prepared for Fletcher to examine properly. Almost all of the bowlers seemed winded by the effort. There was no respite, though: after a break for lunch and a team meeting, they went through a full bowling session at the nets. Mohammed Shami, though, was not part of the endurance test as he worked separately with physio Evan Speechly and strength and conditioning coach Sudarshan VP. His workout was not nearly as intense as the others', he didn't bowl much, but there were no injury concerns to report. Shikhar Dhawan, who had taken a blow and retired hurt in Leicester, was back fit too. After this game, India move to Nottingham for their preferred mode of preparation, four days of intense training sessions, before the series begins.

Just look at boult' date=' southee, wagner they aren't the fastest, tallest but bowl with great discipline & focus on their strengths thus get the work done.[/quote'] Discipline is needed. You cannot try to bowl 6 different deliveries in an over. Try to find that in between length, neither short nor full. It is England does not mean, you start bowling pitching too full. Even there, you can only do it when conditions are really favoring swing. Most of our pacers were guilty of doing that in first warm up and got driven a lot. McGrath never swung the ball but always kept the ball in that uncertain area where you are neither back or forward.

It's better to overpitch looking for swing and be driven for four than it is to use patience as an excuse for never pitching it up. Swing bowlers need to get the batsman driving. If an opening batsman continues to drive the swinging ball he will get out soon enough unless he's one of the all time greats. Listen to what Sam Robson said. He was driving the ball to discourage BK from pitching it up. It worked. India's bowling coaches and captain should be encouraging BK to keep pitching it up and not worry about a few fours. It seems they weren't giving him the confidence to do that.

He got hit for 10 fours in 7 overs. Pitching up does not mean serving up half volleys which BK did. Pitch it up but at good length not half volley length which wont work even if there is swing and another thing is to assess the conditions and because of BK's slow pace, Robson played him coming forward easily. In that case, mixing up the lengths is important too. Don't think any batsmen will bat like that against Anderson because they know he can bowl 88-89 mph bouncers.

Honestly, if you expect this team to do anything other than embarrass themselves, the fans and the nation, then either you do not know a lick about cricket or been drinking the tamasha league / subcontinental patta kirkut cool-aid for too long. This Indian team, especially the bowling, is worse than club level. FECK DE INDIA! Bring on another whitewash and let Srini mama save Jharkhandi auss one more time!!! With the world cup going on, I have not even been switching in!!!
