BJP got a good opening in TN bcoz of modi , but sadly there are no proper leaders in TN BJP.. BJP contested in 7 seats and got 5.2% votes while its partner contested in 14 seats and got the same 5.2%.. IMHO BJP has got 10% vote share and 3rd largest party

that is a major issue. Not only in TN but places like Andhra and Orissa as well. I think the BJP will offer rajya sabha seats to Vaiko and induct Ramasdoss in the union cabinet subject to the cases against him being cleared. Whle they will aim to project Captain as the CM candidate for the assembly elections What the rainbow alliance need to do is consistently maintain a 15% vote share for the next 2-3 election cycles. I doubt they will get anywhere for the assembly elections cause AIADMK will probably be too strong.

vijaykanth himself got no other options other than merging his party with BJP or dissolve the party.. latest news is that he is still there in delhi waiting for an appointment from modi.. :P no one likes him now and he is lucky that he is in alliance with BJP.. in 7 seats BJP got 5.2% votes , but BJP allies got 13% votes in remaining 32 seats.. vijaykanth lost deposits in 10 out of 14 seats.. BJP underestimated and allowed vijaykanth to dictate terms during seat sharing..

swings and roundabouts BJP have to play the long game in Tamil nadu. Which means carrying duds like captain for a few years. If that means assimilation with the BJP then so be it. Like it or not. Captain is a known face. That BJP dont have that. They are facing a similar situation in Haryana whereby they have to poach leaders as they are known to people. I would say even poach Alagiri.

Vijaykanth himself doesn't even handle the party, it's his wife who does all the campaigning and planning. It was not a surprise that during the NDA meeting, Modi particularly thanked his wife. What you wrote is correct somewhat, given BJP small stature in TN, it needs to group various "small" parties into one and fight elections as a team. It worked well in 2014 elections. Other than the dominance in the Hindi-belt area, the next positive was BJP + allies have shown enough that they can be the 2nd party in various states such as TN, WB, Orissa. So upcoming elections of these states will be interesting as one more party has entered the competition.

agree. In WB especially the issue is not probably winning the state but becoming the effective opposition. The BJP as you said remains a party of western India and the cow belt. IT needs to spread wings in the east and south
