as for Manan, its not necessary to play him just bcoz he was retained. At that stage, they might not have expected to get Viru and Pujara in the auctions,so retained him. Should play now.Hes young so will get lots of chances in next 3 years

You gotta be kidding me. He was retained as they were not sure whether they will get Sehwag and Pujara, but don't they know that they could have bought him back in the auction for even lesser price, that would have allowed them some more cushion for other decent players to strengthen their bowling? KXIP supporters are backing this call, I can't believe it :cantstop: But they are winning games, and therefore this will never be an issue. They have got a strong team irrespective of the fact that they made a dumb move, so no complaints man.

Dumb move to retain him anyway. He could have been bought for cheap quids and what more' date= you see him warming benches, dumb move to be honest.
Even now not sure he got paid that much. The Retention cost only reduces the auction purse and it is not necessary to pay the full retention cost to the player or BCCI. The idea is retaining Vohra for 4 cr but negotiate and pay very less money to him than that. Chindi teams like RR,KXIP use this retention wisely as they usually don't spend their full purse in the auction anyway.

Thats not fair, if you retain him and don't let him play a game adn in the end ask him to settle it for anything less, the player is bound to object. It is not his fault that KXIP retained him and didn't play him, he was fit and ready to play for them, so why should he sacrifice his moolah ?

I reckon he's likely to play in the next game. The retention may have been a tactical move and in any case it didn't hurt them. Each team had a salary cap of 60 crores and had to spend a minimum of 36 crores. KXIP may have been worried about the minimum amount so by retaining Vohra, they added 4 crores to the spending total without actually giving 4 crores to Vohra. In the end they still had 4.1 crores left out of the 60 crores. Second most only to the Royals

They were probably not expecting to get the star batsmen that they did in the auctions. And now that their top order is performing well and winning games, they are probably a little reluctant to change it. They could try him as an opener with Viru though. He'll most likely get at least a game in the play-offs.
