New Delhi: Leading from the front and by personal example has been Narendra Modi's style of working in Gujarat. The new ministers got their first lesson on the “Gujarat model†of governance when they were advised by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions department of Personnel & Training to not appoint their relatives as personal staff. As per reports, the advisory, said to be the among the first documents signed by Modi after he assumed charge as PM, outlines rules that will have to be followed in the appointment of personal staff attached to ministers. The most important operative part of the order - ministers will henceforth appoint secretaries and other personal staff only from the "general pool". Is is probably for the first time that ministers are being nudged by a prime minister to keep their relatives away from official work

Low-cost housing, which found several mentions in BJP's 2014 election manifesto, is likely to get infrastructure status, making it easier for real-estate developers to get finance from banks and for longer tenures, and eventually increasing the supply of houses. While developers are in favour of an infrastructure tag to the housing sector as a whole, the government is likely to grant it only to the low-cost segment, said a senior government official, who did not wish to be named.

The new Union health minister Harsh Vardhan, who assumed office on Tuesday afternoon, promised that the government would work to provide 'health insurance coverage for all' through a national insurance policy for health. "The Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana of the ministry of labour is working fine in some states but its reach is limited to BPL (below poverty line) families. I plan to rope in all economic groups and make the health ministry a sort of regulatory body for oversight on e ..
I am not in favour of taxpayer's money being used to push a one-size fits all health policy. From this morning itself, I have started contacting public health practitioners on the roadmap to ensure that available resources will be utilized more optimally," he said. Immediately after assuming office, Vardhan took an hour-long meeting with senior officials at the ministry to get a status report from them. The health minister said focus would be on operating the health ministry with full transparency, and to do that, he would move fast to put in place e-governgovernance systems in all government-to-citizens and government-to-business interfaces under the ministry at all its offices throughout the country.

Singh has also asked for current status of National Highway in Ghaziabad and numbers of government schools and college. "Is there any plan pending of regularization of unauthorized colonies? How many bus shelters are there in Ghaziabad? Is there any plan to increase the numbers?," Gen (retd) Singh asked. Gen (retd) Singh has sought details of 20 issues of Ghaziabad including infrastructure, electricity, water, medical facilities, educational facilities etc.
BJP leader also said in his letter that he was being approached by Ghaziabad's residents and on this, provide him the current status of water supplies across the district. "We have been reaching out to people seeking advice on the changes they think in Ghaziabad and the rest of west UP. A politician or bureaucrat has no right to impose any infrastucture on public. Such projects are meant for public and we should seek their advise and incorporate their positive suggestion before finalizing the project line," Gen (retd) Singh had said.

The new law and telecom minister on Tuesday hinted that his government may avoid retrospective taxation and provide stable policies so that there are no uncertainties for foreign investors. The minister promised to focus on the National Judicial Commission— another commitment in BJP's manifesto —which is expected to ensure a broader consultative process in the appointment of superior court judges and give the political executive a say in the process. "There is an existing Bill on this. We will hold more consultations on this and consider it," he said. Under the current collegium system, the judiciary has the final say on all such appointments. Piyush Goyal, minister for power, coal and renewable energy, has slammed the door on corporate lobbyists and agents, and sent a stern message to bureaucrats on his first day at office that such people should not be sighted in the corridors of power. His ministries have traditionally been high on the agenda of wheeler-dealers as they deal with intense lobbying due to opaque process, grant of mines to private companies, juicy contracts, heavy outgo of subsidies, recommendations for for promotions, land acquisition etc.
The minister said he should not get to hear any instance of liaison officers being entertained in the corridors of the ministries. He has even asked to bar their entry," said a source familiar with the deliberations of Goyal's meeting with bureaucrats. Goyal, who is seen as media savvy, also asked the bureaucrats to put more focus on formulating policies than talking about them. "The minister said that the emphasis of the ministry should be policy and process. Emphasising on a wholes ..

Lowering home loan rates top priority: Venkaiah Naidu Reference: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/Lowering-home-loan-rates-top-priority-Venkaiah-Naidu/articleshow/35694550.cms New urban development and housing minister Venkaiah Naidu said his priority will be to ensure housing for all by 2020 and reduce interest rates on home loans. Acche din? Current ROI for housing loan is about 10.50% for most private banks and might vary from bank to bank. Will be interesting to see the reduced interest rate. Will private banks get it to 9.75%. Will this actually happen and will the reduced rates stay under 10% for ext 5 years atleast. The longer they stay below 10% the better.

more than reducing the interest rate for home loans , they should do something to bring the apartment prices down.. typical 1500 sq ft 3 BHK in ORR ( bellandur till HSR layout ) costs close to 80L is way too much for what it offers.. 1100 sq ft 2 BHK in BTM costs 75L easily .. for that kind of money i can quit my job and start a small textiles with 3 or 4 autolooms :P
