Modi sarkar economic reforms/governance performance thread

PM spoke about farmer suicides in the Parliament... He should have announced some specific packages instead of doing general bakchodi... "We all have to work together and all those shyte..." Come to think of it, I think he least cares about farmers and agriculture... Given an option he would like to have all Indians working on projects, bullet trains, industries etc and would prefer to depend on food imports... Since agriculture is now non-profitable, why not get effing rid of it and start importing food... Lets reduce India from one of the largest producers of agricultural products to a food importing country... Given his ways so far I'm pretty much getting his Gujarat style of working which he's extended now to all over India... no doubt he has good intentions and have done good job in various other aspects... But his development model is industry oriented and Opposition parties are not wrong in accusing him about it...
kya bakwaas hai yeh ... do you even know how our agricultural yields compare with other nations ? You're moving from conspiracies to plain idiocy with such claims.

We need a widespread and a well organized co-operative model for agriculture for coping labour problem. Back in 70's each village will have a farmers pool' date= who jointly work on each other's land instead of getting dedicated labours. Almost everyone in India followed this model till 80's but in the last 2 decades the practice stopped. The primary reason being the increase in real estate, which leads to fight between neighbouring small land owners fighting for 2 feet or 3 feet worth of land, which costs lakhs of rs. There are cases of stopping the water irrigation to other lands from the common well to murder cases. This is followed in few villages around coimbatore espicially for cotton, turmeric and sugarcane farms, which are implemented by the turmeric market associations, textile associations and sugar industries. Govt has to do something for this, and it's not much difficult to implement.
It's still happening. But problem is in many families young generations got better education and moved to city for jobs in private sector. Old people cannot contribute to the farmers pool so their farms will not get better labour. Land rate issues are mainly in cities in villages land process are still reasonable but getting a nice profit out of agriculture is difficult from middle class and poor farmers.

Was India never in an Economic Downturn ?

If the GDP numbers as per the new methodology to calculate GDP is to be believed was India actually growing at close to 7% , rather than the sub-5% reported as per earlier estimates ?

" A Parliamentary panel has questioned the credibility of India’s new method to calculate national income, casting doubts of over a recently-released statistical formula that had turned up a surprise: GDP in 2013-14 grew 6.9% instead of the earlier 4.7%. "
Does that mean honorable Prime Minister Shri Modiji inherited an economy growing at close to 7% ?
“The committee is not convinced regarding the credibility of the figures which are showing a sudden jump in the growth rate of various sectors of economy, including GDP growth rate from 1% to 1.5%, capital formation from -3% to +3 %, which seem to contradict anecdotal evidence,” the report said.
"The new method has forecast a 7.4% GDP growth in 2014-15, although data such as corporate income and tax collections do not show signs of turnaround. "
This is corroborated by the fact that the FY 2015 earnings estimates for the top 50 NIFTY companies have been downgraded substantially by analysts.
"According to earlier estimates India grew at sub-5% for two consecutive years. In January, the government released a new method to calculate national income that, however, showed that India was NOT in the midst of severe downturn, as was feared earlier. The IMF has also sent a team to India to study discrepencies in the new data." :haha:

Modi has some ingredients of becoming a statesman of world order. He has shown those glimpses in some of his decisions. But he has done too much damage in past to overcome and here I am not even referring to Gujrat riots. He has not taken people along while rising to power and had behave dictatorial manner. Now he has to make impossible balance between hawks within sangh and his aspirations of being a thought leader at world stage and till now he has failed to do that.

Yes. Very, very prompt response. Army choppers with relief materiel were there in Nepal within 4-5 hours of the first quake. Around 540 Indians have already been brought back to India. MEA is also doing excellent work - Sushma Swaraj and Vikas Swarup are constantly replying to tweets and helping people. Power ministry has offered to send engineers to help restore power in Nepal. Rail ministry is sending 1 lac litres of Rail Neer for the next few days. A 2 star officer of the army has gone to take charge of army relief efforts while the chief of NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) has also gone today morning.

They can criticize as much they like. These critics are sounding more pathetic everyday. They are laying blame on Modi for anything and everything. Like it or not, overall "India Image" has been drastically improved internationally. Only few sore losers are whining on petty things.

A few days back there was a show on French television when Modi was visiting to get business from them. See the comments of Simon Sharma during that show.No person in their right mind would speak that negatively. It's like these pseudos want Indian to fail because then Modi fails. Cut the nose, spite the face.

i reckon it's not just spite, but protecting their status quo at all cost...privileged life, continuation of inferiority complex anglo-american mimicking lifestyle, right to look down on the 99.9% of Indians, fear of dealing with non-english speaking rising masses. and just as many NRIs who want India to go forward, there are just as many bad NRIs who rather see India stay where it has been (i.e. pre-1991) so they can act smug and flaunt their wealth when they visit India
