Playing 5 bowlers and including Binny in that list:hysterical: Well if that's the bench mark India always played 5 bowlers whn ganguly was in the team as Binny and gangulys bowling is about the same. Playing Binny means we have 4.2 bowlers and 5.2 batsman. That makes 9.4 Why not have 4 bowlers and 6 batsman. That makes 10!!!

Interesting bit is about team management looking at Irfan Pathan as the seam bowling all rounder option but his fitness and lack of FC cricket going against him. What a massive opportunity missed by him. Last time we played 5 bowlers away from home I think was at Perth and Irfan was the MoM with 5 wickets and 74 runs. If Binny indeed plays his role will be to bowl 10-12 overs and pick out a wicket or two and score 30-40 runs at number 7. Is he capable of doing that? Recent performances suggest he can. Dravid being part of the leadership group is surely helping his cause, has always talked highly about him.

It must depend on condition and not an adamant move. If pitch is dry as it is supposed to be then playing 2 spinners will be a much better option and must also look at reverse swing being more effective and make sure they take care of the ball well. Track is going to be on flatter side, so these little things might help.

And that's exactly why he should not be picked. These bits and pieces players are worthless in tests. Jack of all trades and master of none. If this was odi what you suggest is kind of ok. But in tests, 1 or 2 wickets at best plus 30-40 runs. That's useless!!! Need guys who can pick wickets up and get possible 5fers and guys who can score tons. Scary thought dhoni at 6 binny at 7. Genuinley tail kind of starts at 6!

Yes I was more thinking about odis abroad and perth test .Away we do not have a 5th bowler .Spinners away are really not much effective and role like of sehwag ,ganguly played .

yes look at it. Its very very average in batting and bowling depts. Just on stats who would not even make an A team based on just bowling or batting. Then use the cricket eye and lets look at his actual game. Does he have the weapons to do well at international level? Dibbly dobbly 76 mph pie chucker, who would have keeper standing up. Batting is average, cant play pace and more a low order hitter. He just does not have the class Plus is 30 and fat!! Summary only in the squad cos of dad.
