Speed and performance of pacers and spinners in important matches

Recommended Posts

i think england batting is playing fast bowling much better than Our Batting..

i would not say that england pace bowlers have outbowled our fast bowlers...i did find some balls from broad that swung big but other wise bowling has been equally good, our pacers have been faster on an average and our batsman would have scored even lesser runs against our fast bowlers if they had a chance.

serious Issues in batting to be resolved in testing conditions- they have failed in africa, england and only australia is left- i feel rahane ,even dhawan and KL rahul - all three should be replaced.

test batting in testing conditions require a different style of Batting. Pujara can still continue to be selected, i have issue's ni rahane's batting too.

With the ball not swinging much this morning ...

Bumrah has bowled lots of really quick and hostile bouncers ... ball flying through to Pant ... hit Root on the abdomen with a short ball.

It is good to see him in the enforcer role again when wicket is not falling.

It's fine if bumrah bowls this way but we are in 5th test and bumrah has alot workload of asia cup, west indies and aus tour. Ishant looks injured so we are down with just 3 bowlers now and bumrah should bowl good lengths with bit low pace so he can bowl for long.

We are missing the 4th seamer with Ishant having a niggle.

Ishant has the niggle perhaps because he had to bowl 30 overs in 1st innings in his 5th test in 40 days... due to lack of 5th bowler / 4th seamer.

4th pacer must for us in SENA ... we were able to bowl with intensity and take 20 wickets regularly because of this.

Without knowing what the actual injury is, and why it has developed, I think its a tad early to make factual comments.

It definitely is a must to have a 4th pacer as long as he is a decent player unlike Pandya. If its someone like Pandya, it is absolutely criminal to play such players and jeopardize the teams chances!

My contrarian view is if the pitches are helpful like they have been in this series, 3 quicks and 1 spinner are enough and batting is strengthened. This requires the 3 quicks to be top notch and a pool of at least 5 is available for rotation for a longer series such as the current one.

4 quicks could be played when the spinner seems absolutely unnecessary and we're confident of bowling out the opposition within a day in both innings.

The word " perhaps"  is used to indicate that it is not a factual comment and a guess based on circumstances.

It is better to read properly before making adverse comments.

+1 , Totally agree. However, you base your argument on that ' perhaps'. That Ishant is injured 'perhaps' because he had to bowl extra overs, possibly because of lack of a 4th pacer. I merely said that that may not be the case till the time we know it for sure.

I was talking about 4 pacers and 1 spinner ...  and not just 4 pacers.

We need a batsman who can bowl seam up for that ... like Ganguly, S.Waugh.  ...  or a batsman spinner ...  or a batsman keeper.

. However, you base your argument on that ' perhaps'. That Ishant is injured 'perhaps' because he had to bowl extra overs, possibly because of lack of a 4th pacer. I merely said that that may not be the case till the time we know it for sure.

The commentators were talking about it as the cause.  I did not know whether they knew it as a fact or were guessing ... so I added the perhaps.

Whatever the actual cause of his injury is ...  it is a fact that the Indian fast bowlers have bowled with more intensity and effectiveness when we have played 4 fast bowlers in 2018 in SA or England.

3 of the highest scores by the opponent  have been in the 2 tests where we had played 3 pacers only.  So, my analysis is not based on just the  " perhaps ".

Now, I am quite open to who those 4 fast bowlers will be or what the team composition will be  ... apart from Bumrah, no one else is a must for me.  But it has to be 4 pacers for us in SENA countries, which may or may not include an allrounder.

143k from Khaleel

Bro ...  Khaleel bowled a quickest of 138 k in the A-team Quadrangular series while bowling at full pace.

Today,  he was bowling within himself in his first 3 overs and did not really hit the deck as hard as he can.

Yet he hit 143 k and 141 k.

Shows us that the speed guns in many of our domestic tournaments are indeed slower by atleast 5 kph like we were discussing.

Apart from Bumrah, our current ODI pace bowlers are as unimpressive as our current test fast bowlers are impressive.  Bhuvi, Shardul, Kaul, Umesh, Hardik etc. give no confidence in ODIs.

We desperately need a new pacer like Khaleel to come good in ODIs.

Struggling to pick wickets against HK. :wall:

What should be our bowling attack tomorrow? :nervous:

They will probably bench Khaleel and play Shardul and bhuvi as if they are bowling thunderbolts, very bad time to be a rookie.Bhuvi should be the first one to be benched ideally, enough of this free ride,we slam dhoni why not him too

True bro. Proved yet again that speed guns clock slower in domestic tournaments.

Khaleel would have bowled quicker today but Dhoni gave the same advice he gives to all quick Indian bowlers "Think of my old fingers please"

Bro Khaleel conceded majority of his runs to miafields, but poor guy will be held responsible , which may hurt his confidence..he was about to crank it up butbthose two fours and a dhoni piece of wisdom made him bowl well within himself.he should bowl full throttle

Umesh Yadav was good with the new ball in England catches were dropped off him.

Should Shardul play a single match for India after this?

Bhuvi whose stock has perplexingly risen over the last 12 months being shown his level. Here is a bowler whose test record flatters him because he mostly bowls in favorable conditions. His ODI record speaks for itself, a journeyman bowler who's at best a 3rd seam option.

He has generally been very inconsistent in ODIs.  Not talking about a couple of good or bad spells.

Would you rate him as a top ODI bowler  ?   That is what I am looking for.
