Didn't see Nagarkoti bowl but caught Mavi in his last spell, he has a strong action and predisposed to outswing. His action reminds me of that malnourished Oriya 'paceman' whom Jayasuriya feasted upon. Sad but true.

his action is more like Mark Wood

not lee it was matt dunn

Reece Topley was bowling up to 140 in 2012 U19 WC, now barely crosses 135. Jamie Overton is still quick. Sometimes, it can be case of hitting good rhythm and bowling quick in a particular series but bowlers who can do it for multiple series have the chance to sustain it.

there are no guarantees ,yomahesh touched 140 k in 2006 now bowls 125,i think unadkat got upto 138.139 ,even among the english i remember some guy called lee or some thing  touched 90mph a few years back, was in the surrey team ,now he hardly plays last time i saw a year or two back was just about touching 80mph,jamie overton also of eng touched 150 in 2012 in u19wc in aus.then we have got someone like buvi was under 120 as a 17 yr old on ranji debut now is a lot quicker.

Which is why I said that he has the potential.

The likes of Rabada and Joseph are bowling quicker after their impressive U19 days.  Avesh Khan was bowling 142 k in this IPL.

Another issue is, we saw a lot of Indians lose pace in the 2000s decade but in the 2010s decade, most are gaining pace.  It has a lot to do with fast bowling culture of our country.

it's down to injuries ,overton topley dunn yo all had plenty of injuries .thats where bhuvi was good he didnt get too many injuries ,you need the right balance between injuries and putting in the effort.

overton is still sharpish but not as quick he he was during the u19 wc ,you would have thought by now he would be seriously quick

yes, Overton was crazy in that tournament.

He was picked for England 2 years back to play T20s against NZ. He is again injured now. Back injury.

yeah thats the good thing we are getting quite a few sharpish bowlers ,but really there is a lot more potential out there ,the talent scouts and coaches are doing it better than they did in the past but it can get a lot better.

Looks like coaches still put more emphasis on getting movement than outright pace. All these upcoming bowlers like Siddharth Kaul, Shardul Thakur, Dhawal Kulkarni are in that swing bowler mold like B Kumar rather than looking for outright pace. Need more Varun Aaron or even Ishant Sharma (with lot more control and skill) type bowlers. Only Basil Thampi comes close in terms of ability.

Umesh is one of the few bowlers who has pace, stamina and skills but has no temperament or thinking ability and hence has not delivered as much as he should have.

Thakur is not slow swing bowler. He bowls 140s.

He is generally a 130kph bowler. Sometimes he is in 140+kph but not consistently.

Thakur bowls 130 k to 145 k range, can hit the deck hard and has a good bouncer.

Among new pacers....

Thampi, Siraj, Avesh, Nathu, Nagarkoti and Khejroliya can become genuinely quick bowlers as they have the raw pace and want to bowl quick.

Thakur, Navdeep, Aniket and Rajpoot are fast-medium and most of these guys get good bounce.

Dhawal is not in the reckoning now for an international spot.

Among international pacers.... Shami, Umesh, Bumrah, Ishant and Aaron can be considered fast bowlers.

Even Pandya and Bhuvi have become fast-medium now.... and have good bouncers, especially Pandya.

Don't see any medium pacer in reckoning for a national spot.

1) Don't know if coaches still pay importance to movement than pace but young kids are obsessed with pace.

2)Shardul is not in B Kumar mould.

3)We don't need Ishant or Varun type of bowlers. Shami, Siraj types are also fine.

4) Thampi is the least capable in terms of abilities among the other contenders.

5) Agreed on Umesh.

there arent that many quicks ,how many can in indai can bowl over 140k consistently but then you do have cases like that guy in haryana who bowls 140k but cant get into the ranji side,

Its funny how often that happens, Avesh Khan finds it hard to get into his Ranji side and got few games in IPL, Khejoriya who performed brilliantly in the local t20 competition couldn't get one game for MI, nathu singh also has been overlooked, there are other cases that I may be missing, I am guessing the criteria for most domestic teams rarely zeroes in on raw pace and potential
