express bowling
Good to see India playing 3 fast bowlers....Umesh, Ishant and Shami in this test. Kudos to Kohli and Kumble. The pitch has a bit of bounce but is other-wise dead with very little seam movement. There is not much swing either. From WI....Gabriel is bowling 140 k to 150 k but the other 2 seamers are just 125 k to 135 k. Gabriel has got sharp bounce at times and has generally bowled in good areas but the other 2 have looked harmless so far. WI, once known for 4 fast bowlers, is playing only 3 seamers and 2 of them are just medium pacers. tweaker and Rightarmfast 2 Link to comment
maniac
Can some tell me how fast is Amir bowling....Looks like he got both his wickets as bowled and one of them of a batsman like Cook that too when he is batting on a 100 Link to comment

express bowling
First test vs. WI 2nd day Speed range of most deliveries ( excluding slower balls ) Ishant 137 k to 147 k. Umesh 139 k to 144 k. Shami 136 k to 149 k. Ishant got consistent inswing and steep bounce. Bowled some sizzling bouncers but needs to improve his line a bit. Bowled in good areas but also bowled quite a few deliveries down the leg. Umesh got consistent outswing and bowled most of his deliveries outside off-stump. I was happy to see that he did not bowl those leg-stump deliveries apart from one over. He just needs to bowl a little closer to the off stump and make the batsmen play more. Shami was getting a lot of zip and bounce off the deck. Got some swing and seam movement. Bowled lots of good deliveries and a few bad ones. Picked up a wicket. Bowled a few good bouncers. P.s- It was good to see Shami bowling quick in a test match after his return from injury and he infact bowled his quickest delivery ever 149 k. Bleed-Blue
I think Umesh neeeds to go wider of the crease sometimes, it will make his outswinger far more effective. Link to comment

Agree with most of this, but was disappointed with Umesh's wastage of the new ball. Failed to trouble the batsman with even a single delivery out of 24. That's not acceptable for a guy who gets to share the new ball. Hopefully he does better tomorrow. For India to take that next step in test cricket, we need the likes of Umesh to take a few steps forward with their individual performances. At least against weak batters such as these. For India to take that next step in test cricket, we need the likes of Umesh to take a few steps forward with their individual performances. At least against weak batters such as these. One reason could be because Umesh has had a problem of bowling on the pads and down the leg side...and he overcompensated a bit on the off-side. I like the fact that he did not try too many different types of deliveries. He just needs to make the batsmen play more deliveries and bowl six inches closer to the off-stump and bowl the occasional bouncer to keep the batsmen guessing. Let's see if Anil Kumble, the master of line , length and discipline, can improve this aspect among our talented but inaccurate pacers. Link to comment
MCcricket
For Umesh what he lacks is intent, having that hunting mentality, going at the batsmen, he is not a channel boaler n look at bowlers similar to him like Waqar n try bowl similar lines n lengths as he cannot just bowl wide outside off n take the ball further out, he should look to hit top of off stump n with that all three modes of dismissals as open bowl with the one that keeps straight, lbw n slips come into play with mountain of runs behind us is poor strategy to bowl wide channel Mosher 1 Link to comment
