Marco Polo
There will be a big political vacuum in Tamil Nadu I guess. Its a perfect opportunity for a national political party like Bjp to make its presence in Tamil Nadu. I know Tamil people are pretty patriotic although few Tamil parties try hard and speak off dravidianism rather than being Indians.
Precambrian
Can't she appeal? Get one stay and be out of jail. Get a high court to quash it and she's free to take up CM post.

someone
All the regional Tamil parties will be looking for gains from this verdict. Even BJP would think it's chances has opportunity to boost their chances. It's again Congress who is missing again, they are nowhere in the picture. Be it AIDMK, DMK, SP, BSP Congress, these are all centric towards one particular family and have absolutely little internal democracy or leaders from grassroots . BJP certainly are the best democratic party in India.

BeautifulGame
From Hindu 18:00 On Jayalalithaa's political future: She is disqualified from contest for the period of imprisonment (four years) and six years thereafter. A total of 10years. At the same time, she has the right of appeal. At the time of appeal, the sentence is usually suspended, but in rare, very rare cases, the court may grant stay of conviction. In such a situation, it may be argued that by getting a stay on conviction she has re-acquired the qualification to contest. In the event of there being no such stay, but only an order suspending the sentence and granting bail, she may be unable to contest until the High Court gives its final verdict on her appeal. If and when she re-acquires eligibility to contest, she has to come into the Assembly only through a by-election.

It's fashionable to use UP/ Bihar as punching bag. Actually apart from all the posturing there has been atbest only stone peltings at most places.Police has been good control since evening acc to most reports Also when Laloo was convicted he was not the CM unlike Amma.
