Life in South Korea is very fast paced and competitive and as a result, South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the developed world. Mapo Bridge in downtown Seoul is a grim remainder of that statistic. The problem got so bad that Samsung stepped in and installed signs along the entire length of the bridge urging people to reconsider their decision. It might not be related to higher suicide rates but South Koreans also have the highest rate of cosmetic surgeries of any country in the world.
