VRV Singh
Decided to go out on a relative high, avoiding defeat in a Test in Australia :giggle: Link to comment
Pagalpanti
Really? Well he showed in Eng and NZ that he was turning it around a bit. I wondered if not being the captain could free him up a bit. Well now we can't know it, so lets just hope whoever replaces him does the job. Link to comment
Mindreader
He dont want to play under new captain;-) Link to comment

Sachin=GOD
come on A middle of the series retirement often is because of some grave reason and not because of a sudden loss of form. Indian team has been sliding under his captaincy for 3 years and his batting overseas has also been (usually) woeful- it cant be that he just woke up and realized it today. Link to comment
bharat297
Respect him for his achievements in Test cricket. His 224 in the 1st Test vs Australia 2013 was a game changer. Captained the side to No.1 in the world. But it is the right decision. Hopefully Indian cricket can move forward under Kohli in style. Link to comment
fineleg
Too little, too late. Can he take Nohit along? Link to comment
kubrickian
Should have stayed as a keeper batsman because he could have done much better without the burden of captaincy. Perhaps he was just not enjoying it and wanted to concentrate only on ODIs. Link to comment
Kalia_Test
Feeling sad :(( ...the kind of feeling where you realize a part of your life is taken away... Think he will retire from ODIs after WC too Link to comment
Lord
Overall I'd say its been a decent career both as player and captain Link to comment

BeautifulGame
The Great selfless cricketer :hatsoff:.Easily could have stayed for 2 more years with the home tests we have .Not clinging on for some home series wins before retiring . Think would have retired after the england series itself if not for the horrible form of Kohli Link to comment

Firstly why would he retire from Tests if that was the case Team has been poor overseas under him for years but there was no alternative so he had to go on.Now Kohli has shown he can do it and Saha too looks decent so he stepped down Link to comment
Sachin=GOD
End of golden era You mean the 2 whitewashes, loss to Eng at home, loss to New Zealand, loss to Aus in this series? Link to comment
