Panchkula: Marvan Atapattu, the former Sri Lankan captain, looks impressed with India's recent performances in the two Tests against Pakistan at home, and thinks they will be able to repeat it during their tour Australia later this month. "They have won more matches in Australia than us, and they certainly look a good outfit going in to the Australia series," Atapattu, who recently retired from international cricket after Sri Lanka's tour Down Under, says. The elegant right-hander, who is leading Delhi Jets in the inaugural Indian Cricket League, hailed compatriot Muttiah Muralitharan after the off-spinner reclaimed the world record of most Test wickets in the ongoing home series against England. "He has been a great servant of Sri Lankan cricket all these years. And with the way he has been bowling of late, he looks good enough to hold good for a long, long time. It's a great accomplishment," he says. The ICL Twenty20 tournament seen batting sides struggling to put up scores in excess of eight runs an over, but Atapattu thinks the coming games will see a change in trend. "Perhaps the teams have taken some time to adjust to the conditions here. I think you will more high-scoring games in the days to come." Atapattu concluded by saying that he will continue playing first-class cricket for another 2-3 years and is excited to extend his participation in future ICL-like ventures. http://www.cricketnext.com/news/india-can-come-out-on-top-down-under/28183-13.html
