Cricketics
Wow, I just read that the prize for the winner of the Indian badminton open is US $250,000. I thought it will be less than that. Glad it is at least that figure.

Glad it is at least that figure. Plus the sponsorship money the top players get is pretty decent too. Cricketics
Plus the sponsorship money the top players get is pretty decent too. Others sports are slowly starting to get some money in India Yes, India now has series of ATP challenge level tennis player tounaments where players can win over $50,000 us dollars and players from all over the world are coming for those tournaments. Not to forget the ever old Chennai Open which is still our only ATP 500 event. So basically, money is being well spent to attract players from all over the world and host big tournaments, but I hope they also invest on infrastructure so that our local players in each sports can utilize those facilities and gain from it. Cricket is exception because players can start playing on roads and gullies and become popular and convert and take it to grounds.
Gollum
The scary part is that Sindhu looks like a bigger talent than Saina !!!! She is a 2X World Championship bronze medalist and has a much superior record than Saina against elite players, esp the Chinese. Great future ahead for Indian women's badminton. Sure that young girls will get inspired by Saina,Sindhu etc and we will dominate the sport in years to come.
sscomp32
Saina what a Champion. :hatsoff: Reaches the semis of Malaysian open Watched the full match and some of the shots and rallies were fantastic. :adore: Especially the last winning rally. :cheer: Commentators were also shocked how did she win that :haha:
Gollum
The great thing is Saina is peaking at the right time after an indifferent 2013 and 2014. With Rio Olympics coming in 2016 hope she is in top form and gets a medal. Sindhu too is damn damn good and potentially better than Saina. Great expectations from shuttlers both male and female singles in Rio :isalute:
Gollum
http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/saina-nehwal-malaysia-open-world-1-ranking-badminton/1/428448.html Knocked out of Malaysia Open in the semis against 2012 Olympic Champ Li Xuerui 21-13 17-21 20-22. Her H2H record against this particular woman is 2-9. Also set to lose her no 1 ranking. She struggles against most Chinese women but Sindhu does very well against them. Problem with Sindhu is she regularly loses against less fancied players.
youngindia
she has improved her game this season her major nemesis was wang yihan whom she defeated for the first time(without injury retirement) in all England ...in the final she could not close it out against Carolina marin, an highly annoying and cunning Spaniard who has improved since end of last year Against LXR, this match was close as well..i think she has closed the gap a bit and competing better against the top tier...but still something extra needed to down LXR AND Marin
