Gollum
What is this latest fad about 'Idea of India' being under threat? So many journalists, intellectuals, actors, businessmen, civil servants, politicians keep repeating this cliché that under Modi, Idea of India is under threat. No day passes without a half our session in some TV channel about this hot topic. So what exactly is going on? According to ICFers what is their Idea of India and is it under siege because of NDA II ?
Raghav_12
With the amount of political threads you are creating, I feel idea of Indian Cricket Forum itself is under siege. :--D
someone
Maybe what exactly is this "Idea of India"? This idea of India principally is build post 1947 and on western terms and values. It assumes nothing happened before the British invasion. So mentions about Muslims violence is always hidden. That's the problem, this idea of India is not all wrong but incomplete. It's a failing idea as things have not improved on the ground. Muslims living in ghettos hasn't integrated them with the rest of India. We also need to include ancient India, its knowledge and philosophy. So things like "Ekam sat, viprah bodha badhanti" or 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. And that's the idea of Bharat. Khalpat
If after 68 years of Independence, we are still discussing 'Idea of India' then there is definitely something very wrong.

We cannot pretend nothing existed/happened before the British rule and continue to whitewash our school kids with watered down history. They should study and understand the glory days of India prior to the horrors/ignominy of both Islamic and British India. Our kids need to understand how we were the shining star of the world long before the European/American civilizations even got out of their nomadic life. The amount of knowledge and wealth that India possessed during this period is probably unparalleled in history. Instilling respect and pride in one's own culture will go a long way in rebuilding the "idea of India".

Every big country has their own narrative but we have none. It seems our country suffers from some inferiority complex and thus keeps on using western values/culture/terms. And these things are really not compatible with our culture and people.
