In a way ordering so many Rafales and Su-30s are a sign that the LCA program has not worked out. We should have gone on the cooperation route than building from scratch everything with the Arjun Tank and LCA. It took too long. So the Pak-Fa program is a step in the right direction. Even that has problems. Russians seem intent on taking money from India. But not sharing the knowledge.

yup 36 is initial batch. IMO India will increase net orders to 250. Its happened with the Mirages we purchased.
No parrikar clearly said, we will buy only 36 rafales, our mig fighters will be replaced by lca tejas, wise decision in my opinion

No parrikar clearly said' date=' we will buy only 36 rafales, our mig fighters will be replaced by lca tejas, wise decision in my opinion[/quote'] people say a lot of things.... air force is not happy with tejas, mk2 tejas is good as its ticked all boxes. But India just does not have the manufacturing capacity to replenish the MiGs

There can not be any instant news on Rafale..as DM says. DM is keeping his options open, he also does not want to commit on expenditure for which he does not have money to spend, if there is a JV then by private participation the funds for Rafale development in India will come, if not then something which is more cheap will go through gov-to-gov it could be Rafale or Tejas Mk2.. 90 day negotiation period for Rafale expires 10th july just before modis rusia visit, i think we will get some more info by that period.

Wat? No more Rafales. Parrikar has literally told the IAF brass, get on the LCA train or no more toys. Bricks are being laid for India's MIC. Clearly, IAF bigwigs are too stupid to realize that. PS: Don't be surprised if the govt starts interfering with succession line for IAF's top job. This current lot seems to have their hands in the cookie jar.
