Sachin=GOD
There are quite a few things wrong with this list, the first being the absence of Dr. BR Ambedkar. He should be in the top 3.

vvvslaxman
Isn't he the one who started this reservation crap. It was not crap when it was started. There were lot of people that were oppressed. Opportunities were denied for under-privileged classes. But it was not actually Ambedikar's idea if i am right. it was there even before that. That is unfair criticism. thats like saying if Jesus was so great, he should've foreseen the crusades, if Buddha was so great, he should've foreseen the destruction of Nalanda, etc etc. Holding people responsible for developments that happen in the future out of an idea put into practice, developing on its own, is as unfair a benchmark as it gets. Muloghonto
People are judged by results they produce not by actions they take. Yes, the results THEY produce. Not what happens years after they are dead and their ideas/plans keep getting developed by third parties. PS: I disagree that people are not judged by the actions and the results only. That implies the ends justifies the means, when it clearly does not.

Muloghonto
edited. Though Tendulkar does merit mention somewhere in an expanded list. IMO, sports aside, the 'Tendulkar effect' on Indian economy is a massively overlooked part of Tendulkar. Perhaps because as ultimately cricket fans, we focus on cricket only. But in greatest Indians list, a more generic view is required, where the ability to influence the masses or a social system that impacts the masses is a huge bechmarks. In that list, Tendulkar does have an x-factor presence, as he pretty much singlehandedly has created the sports paraphernalia industry in India as a relevant economic factor.
