Zap_Brannigan Posted April 25, 2015 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Pawan Negi took 5/22 in his last spell for CSK, which just happened to be the finals of the Champions league. He also did well in the semifinals. Yet he doesnt get a single chance to play in this years IPL. CSK has always been stubborn with team selection in that they stick with the same 11 as much as they can. This means that they have skirted over obvious weakness in the team just cos they always manage to make it to the playoffs. But the weakness is often exposed in the finals or semifinals and they lose. Now, jadeja is struggling, ashwin bowled just 4 overs in his last 3 games before today, bravo has been inconsistent in the death overs and faf hardly gets to bat much. Meanwhile they have Pawan negi, who was very good in champions league. Rahul sharma and mithun manhas, both had decent success in their previous franchises. Badree, very good in the T20 format and couple of promising international pace bowlers. When will CSK learn to plug their weakness in the league games ? Of course it's not perfect, you always feel a player or two can be replaced by others to 'see' if it improves the team. But on the other hand CSK's strength is identifying the best 11 quickly and sticking with them through thick and thin as much as possible. With a settled team like CSK, at any given point of time you feel 2-3 players at most not performing to their potential, and that's mostly due to their lack of form at that moment. With most other teams there will be more number of players not playing to their potential. For some it'd be lack of form at that moment, but for quite a few it's because of unsettled team and players not knowing their roles. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He is a frustrating, stubbornest mule abt that and will get exposed in semis or finals - even for team india. Especially when it comes to selecting friends and/or business partners, dhoni is a pseudo-corrupt mule hole. Friends or business will factor in team selection for msd. Heard some one say in interview the other day that its tough getting team right in IPL as they have at max 1 week before the tournament together as a team. So they judge based on how they do in nets. He was in the sights couple of years back and ever since his drug bust, he has been sidelined. Saha was in the CSk as a backup keeper and played dozen games and hardly did anything of note, like parthiv patel before him. CSK gets to keep him away from other squads for 10 Lakhs which is a very good deal for them. Don't expect Dhoni to drop Jadeja and Ashwin till he retires, as Dhoni says " The benchwarmers will warm the bench" So, Negi will warm the bench and collect his awesome 10 Lakhs and hope that next year he gets released or transferred to some other franchisee or Dhoni retires.
