Raghav_12
Well this thread has been long due. We have threads on sports like Chess, Kabbadi, Indian version of football, Hot Dog eating and WWE. We have whole forum on reality show called IPL, but no thread on most natural of all sports, Athletics. So here it comes. Right now focus is on upcoming world athletics championship in Beijing. Things are getting heated but not as much elsewhere as in the case of Bolt vs Gatlin. Gatling has been scorching with piling up of sub 9.8 races one after another. Until yesterday Bolt's best time of the year was 10.12. But he came back from an injury break with a crack at 100 m in 9.87 with lot of margin for improvement. Let's see how it pans out ahead. Hope there is participation in this thread and it doesn't become my monologue like thread below http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=312478
CasualVisitor
Absolutely! Eagerly waiting for a Bolt vs Gatlin showdown. Gatlin is in the form of his life. 4 sub 9.8s in this year is phenomenal even by Bolt's standards. Having said it, Bolt is Bolt. The supreme most talented sprinter ever. If he can iron out his off-the-block issues, and when the stage is big with competition as hot as now, sub 9.6 (dare I say even sub 9.5) is not impossible for this giant of a sprinter! Raghav_12
Why the frownie? I like Mo' date=' great runner and by all accounts a good guy[/quote'] He already would be the athlete who won so many golds at highest level (Olympics and World Championships) without even threatening a world record , forget about breaking one. Number of victories would already put him at legendary level in middle distance running but he is clearly not in that league of some of African runners. He is a nice loveable gut but somehow he has been very fortutous to win as much as he did.

Raghav_12
This is one of the most amazing finish you would ever see in athletics. Kiprop, Kenyan legend of middle distance running of current generation was languishing at 10 with just 300 meters to go in a race of 1500 meters. Seemingly, to an unknown he looked to be content with 10 th position in world championship finals. However he had confidence in his abilities to produce a burst at the last moment. With around 300 meters to go, he started his surge from 10th position and started his sequence of overtakes. Soon he was passing his co-runners as if they were part of some other race. He long legs were moving so fast they created an impression of being blades of a windmill. Soon he was in first position, smiled with 10 meters to go and finished comfortably first. Watch this thrilling race to feel goose-bumpy. 944gkX_OENY
