Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015

Recommended Posts

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015 (December 10-28) will be the one to watch and follow this year as many Indian International cricketers are taking part and along with promising juniors and few discarded seniors this makes for a good show.

Full schedule: http://www.espncricinfo.com/vijay-hazare-trophy-2015-16/content/series/901115.html?template=fixtures

Players  to watch include Dhoni who will play under Varun Aaron's captaincy for Jharkand. Other Indian Internationals who will be playing are R Ashwin, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma, KL Rahul, Stuart Binny, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan. Mohammad Shami will also be making his comeback after long injury and recovery period. Players knocking on the Indian team door like Shreyas Iyer, Gurkeerat, Mayank Agarwal etc will also try to impress selectors.

The 27 sides have been divided into three groups of seven and one group of six, with the top two from each qualifying for the knockouts. This system allows teams to play each other irrespective of the zones they are from whereas in the past, teams were restricted to playing opponents from the same zone, leading to a touch of predictability. The Groups are as follows:

Group A: Punjab, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Rajasthan, Services and Hyderabad

Group B: Karnataka, Railways, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala and Haryana

Group C: Odisha, Vidarbha, Delhi, Baroda, Andhra, Tripura and Maharashtra

Group D: Bengal, Goa, Himachal, Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra, Madhya Pradesh

:nice:  Jharkhand wins. Very good bowling to defend 210 when J&K were cruising at 144/2. :cheer:

Rasool got out and J&K Choked.

Victorious return for MSD to domestic cricket.

Incase had he lost, he had a very good reason.....he would have said his team has 2 fastest bowlers of our domestic set-up ......."rahul shukla and varon aaron" and team cannot win win super fast bowlers

Won't be surprised if he is selected for Australia :giggle:

Ishant has picked up a 5-fer against Vidarbha. He is surely making a comeback to the ODI team.

Ishant is a far more accurate bowler nowadays, starting from February 2014, and deserves a place in ODIs.   :two_thumbs_up:

Dhawan

Kohli

Rahane

Dhoni

Pandya

Jadeja/Extra batsman(big hitter)

Ashwin

Ishant

Shami

Umesh

Nice...I may consider trying Iyer / another batsman  in a couple of matches in place of Jaddu...when we need to bolster our batting on pace friendly tracks.

Left-arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt bagged six wickets after a solid performance by the batsmen as Baroda outplayed Andhra Pradesh by 89 runs

Skipper Ambati Rayudu faltered for 1, Deepak Hooda (53) and Yusuf Pathan (46 not out) rallied hard to make it count for the side which had lost their first game against Delhi.

Yusuf's 36-ball knock provided the much-needed entertainment in the slog overs as the hard-hitter smashed 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Tamil Nadu Secure Second Straight Win

Tamil Nadu produced an all-round display to beat Mumbai by 26 runs and register their second consecutive win in the Vijay Hazare One-Day cricket tournament.

Tamil Nadu rode on half-centuries from Baba Aparajith (77), Baba Indrajith (60 not out), Murali Vijay (55) and R Sathish (52) to get past the 300-run mark.

For Mumbai, Dhawal Kulkarni (3/47) picked up three wickets while Abhishek Nayar (2/56) accounted for two scalps.

Chasing the mammoth score, opener Akhil Herwadkar (107) century went in vain as Mumbai failed to cross the final hurdle.

With this win, Tamil Nadu now have eight points

Karnataka Bounce Back Against Haryana

Chasing 149 for a win in a low-scoring encounter at the Railways Recreation Club Ground, Rajasthan were reduced to 81 for seven and then 139 for nine but Bhatia held his nerve in a tense finish to hand Assam their second loss in two days.

Siddarth Kaul Helps Punjab Defeat Hyderabad

Mahendra Singh Dhoni Comes Back to Form, but Jharkhand Lose to Gujarat

All-round Shrikant Mundhe Helps Maharashtra Defeat Odisha

An all-round display by Shrikant Mundhe helped Maharashtra register a 40-run victory over Odisha in their Group C match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Saurashtra Pip Madhya Pradesh in High-Scoring Thriller

Opening batsman Sheldon Jackson and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit scintillating centuries as Saurashtra defeated Madhya Pradesh by a narrow seven runs in a high-scoring Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day cricket match here today.

Put into bat, the home side, despite losing three quick wickets, amassed 340 for 5, thanks to the efforts of Jackson (111), Jadeja (134) and Chirag Jani (77 not out), who made merry against MP bowlers in the Group D match at SCA Stadium in Khandheri.

Saurashtra then bowled Madhya Pradesh out for 333 in 49.1 overs to notch up an exciting victory.

Delhi Jolted by Vidarbha

Opener Faiz Fazal struck a defiant half-century before the visiting bowlers made it count to help Vidarbha beat Delhi by 18 runs.

Vidarbha rode on Fazal's 83 to post 163 all out in 45.2 overs -- a score which proved challenging in the low-scoring encounter.

Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma bowled his heart out to return with impressive figures of 5-21 and his effort was backed up by Navdeep Amardeep Saini and Subodh Bhati, who bagged two wickets each.

Chasing in what seemed an easy target for the star-studded line-up, Delhi faltered against a disciplined bowling attack led by pace spearhead Umesh Yadav.

Our team is seriously lacking a couple of good lower order big hitters. Dhoni doesn't have that big hitting ability anymore and he has become more of a accumulator these days. Lots of ODI's and T20 WC coming up next. Hope the selectors select some new faces and hope Dhoni gives them a chance in the playing 11. It's high time to test whether Pandya can play that role. Anymore good bashers down the order who can do the job?

Deepak hooda is another option for a good hitter. Pandya and Hooda should be in the T20 and ODI team instead of the passengers we are carrying.

Pandya. Gurkeerat and Hooda come to mind as lower-middle order big hitters. In Australia, Pandya should be the best option.

In reality we will probably see Binny.   :((

Rahul Shukla is doing pretty well in Vijay Hazare. Hope, Dhoni has an eye on his teammate. He can be a very handy ODI bowler for us. Bowls at good pace and is also a very good fielder. Dhoni has struggled big time to score at pace. Saurabh Tiwary has outbatted him till now.

Rahul Shukla- what's the pace at which he is bowling...?

it seems he is out bowling varun aaron too as far as the bowling analysis is concerned.

he is taking wickets well.

I believe among the pacers only one close to be picked is Shardul Thakur...umesh varun Ishant shammi n bhuvi being the top 5.

I feel if shammi is still not fit then Thakur has a very bright chance to fly to Australia.

Varun is also considered as a costly bowler and hence Mohit could be preferred to him.

for me Shardul Thakur could be a better option than Mohit for one days bcos shardul is an attacking bowler and Mohit is a run stopping defensive bowler only at his best. Shardul has been a big n mean wicket taking machine in domestic circuit- he should definitely be picked.

I believe ISHANT umesh and bhuvi are sure shot picks.

Mohit dhwal shardul n varun n the left arm trundler( I m forgetting his name) would be competing for the rest 2 places.

I guess shardul has a good chance to be selected.
