Rohit Sharma return to action Red carpet thread

There is just too much talent that is going waste and also we have invested too much in him in tests.

Also he has not been given a consistent run...after coming out of the SL test series where he was our top run getter,he was dropped for the first 2 tests against S.A....he is being chopped and changed too often but yeah he needs to grab the chance he gets even though at times he gets the dubious decision :(.

So here is the solution....Let him know he gets 7 tests on a trot or 14 innings which ever comes first....he gets to pick his position he wants to play in and then a final judgement will be made.

This will give him the added confidence and will make him the world beater we always knew he would be...Look at LOI's, he is already the best in the world in those formats.

What do you guys think :bandit:

Wowwww.......i wonder y do u want india to play with 10 players

Talent- Stop calling him talent

Talent is not only about playing quality strokes its about application n gud defence n both rohit lacks big time

Talking about chances, Pujara was dropped for 4 test after aus 3rd test yet he comes n scores 140 above in 3rd test Sl n that to at opening.

So its an xcuse. The one who wants to do will do . didnt mishra do well in Sl after being away from test . Didnt Jadeja comeback in Sa Series. HAsnt umeesh yadav been dropped during SL-Sa series. HE did well on wkts tht didnt suit him.

N for wat do we give him His wanted position n 7 test matches on row.

Didnt others earn it. Rahane was dropped after one bad test . Virat after one bad series. This guy is still in squad. after avg 22 in last 14 test.

Y such special treatment.

For disappointing again n agian

The guy threw his wkt in 3rd test in eng foolishly , 4th test after been given a life wat the hell was tht shot.

Wat wrong has someone like Karun nair n shreyas iyer done.

U can have all the talent n shots in the book but if u dnt knw how to apply n stand on crease. Well no point

N his biggest failure is he still callled a talent after 9 yrs of int cricket N virat Rahane who came after him are int diff league

He was not the highest run getter...Kohli was.

Pujara, Dhawan and Vijay played just one test each while Rohit played all 3.

If we consider runs per test in the SL series ( as 3 of our top batsmen played just 1 test each )....Rohit ranks 5th among our top 6 batsmen in the last SL series.     :winky:

The early perception of Rohit was that he was not a suitable ODI player but would be a fantastic test batsman, There was never doubt that he was the Top 3 T20 player in the world but look at the backing he got in the ODI format, today he is easily the Top 5 OdI cricketer in the world...maybe higher based on current form.

He has been chopped and changed too many times....Yeah he might fail and never play tests ever again as seems to be the desire of a lot of folks here.....but all I am saying is he needs one final run to make a decision on him based on what we have learnt from the past and what we know of his ability of performing miracles on the cricket field.

Also I am being very rational here not even mentioning out of that 4  innings ....not even trying to make excuses because I am a great beleiver that it is the end result that matters But still FYI

he got a dubious decision, an unplayable ball that you cant really blame him for and one innings where he had to just throw his bat around to accelerate a quick declaration.

SO the Jury is still out there IMHO

He's not talented and not a test level player its as simple as that.the quicker he's booted out of the test team the better for india and for him (he can go out on a high with an average of 33 rather than failing like ramprakash)

Yes that's it. He's an Indian version of Ramprakash. Allegedly has some "talent" but a mental midget who freezes in tests.

Okay, I'll bite.

These are the 4 innings Rohit played in the last series against SA.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3rd Test, 1st Innings, India score 125/5.

46.2

Harmer to RG Sharma, OUT, massive edge and Rohit has to go. There is that bat-pad dismissal. Loopy delivery on leg, Rohit plays outside the line and the ball has been spinning all day, and continues to do so. Takes the inside edge and then on to pad and then lobs up, AB comes in from leg slip and takes it. Classical offspinners dismissal on a turning pitch. He did not look happy but there was a massive edge

RG Sharma c de Villiers b Harmer 2 (41m 28b 0x4 0x6) SR: 7.14

3rd Test, 2nd Innings, India score 171/8.

45.4

Morkel to RG Sharma, OUT, gone, soft dismissal. Rohit plays at that too early, again a batsman plays at a ball way too early. very slow wicket and the ball stops on Rohit but he looks to flick and the ball spoons up in the air off the outer half of the bat, towards Elgar at mid-on

RG Sharma c Elgar b Morkel 23 (77m 39b 1x4 1x6) SR: 58.97

4th Test, 1st Innings, India score 138/4.

50.1

Piedt to RG Sharma, OUT, flighted ball on off stump, and that is a shocker of a shot. Goes for the big hit, with long-on back on the rope, and hits it straight down the fielder's throat. Maybe he was trying to hit it wider, over midwicket, maybe, but the ball didn't turn as much as he expected, but in any case, it seemed the oddest time to be playing such a shot. They check for no-ball, and it's close, but the close-up suggests some part of his heel - which is in the air - is just behind the line. Millimeters again.

RG Sharma c Imran Tahir b Piedt 1 (15m 6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 16.66

4th Test, 2nd Innings, India score 8/1.

6.1

Morkel to RG Sharma, OUT, bowled him first ball! Terrific delivery from Morkel and it has taken out off stump. He's on a hat-trick. Morkel pitched the ball on a good length on off stump. Rohit prodded from his crease with no real footwork. He played for the angle into him but the ball held its line to zip past the outside edge and flatten off stump. That is a hard ball to face first up.

RG Sharma b Morkel 0 (7m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Now be a sport and tell us ...

1) Which innings did he get a dubious decision ?

2) Which innings did he had to just throw his bat around to accelerate a quick declaration ?

4th test 1st innings  was a marginal decision......usually benefit of doubt goes to batsman...millimeters really?

3rd test 2nd innings where he had to accelerate

Anyways dude I am not making excuses for the obvious....all I am saying is he needs one last go before he is dumped for good because we don't want to kill the potential golden goose because we think there is a chance it won't lay the golden eggs
